Game announcers for the Predators

I don't know how anyone could have Center Ice and not agree that both the Detroit and Nashville crews are among the best in the league. I have no problem with the Nashville crew, I think they do a great job. I've watched all of the crews, and they rank near the top. I don't think they suffer from blatant homerism by any stretch. Same with Daniels and Redmond. They try to be fair and even handed. Sure, these crews get more excited about and pay more attention to the exploits of the home team, but that's their job.

You want homerism, go watch an Altitude broadcast. Cut my eyes out with a dull knife, please.

they are okay, i just find that accent funny. Doh-tsook :P

the worst in the league are obviously toronto. EVERY goal the other team scores is a lucky fluke. EVERY chance the leafs squander is a bad break. unbelievable.

Come on Crisp and Weber are pretty damn evenhanded when they call games. There is some homerism, of course, but every announcing pair is inflicted with it, some alot more than others.

On another note. Call me Mr. Simpson if you want, but I thought the Arnott hit was borderline. I don't think it was blatant. So tell me, what did you guys think when Hudler, I believe, boarded Hamhuis in the first. A non-call there, checked him right into the boards, elbow right into his back.

Also, S. Weber should have been called for interference for throwing down whats his name.

you don't belong in a red wings forum...go to the trashville forum. I am looking forward to a first rd exit with you guys this year, you haven't won a playoff series. I'm still hoping your team moves ::crosses fingers:: :D

Fans from all teams are welcome here. This one more so than your posts at this point. Please be respectful of differing opinions.

I mean these guys are usually ok and know hockey pretty well, but last night when I was watching the game they were calling Detroit players "dirty players" and "dirty hitters" and bulls*** like that. Who the hell is a "dirty player" on Detroit anyways? But when Arnott elbowed Lebda in the head they just said "Lebda is a short player and got elbowed in the head because Arnott is a tall guy", that doesn't excuse the piece of s*** for lifting his elbow and driving it into the head of Lebda like he did. And when Webber threw down Calder in his own zone after missing the check on him they just said something like "well if they dont call penalty's on Detroit then they shouldn't call them on us for that" which the Refs didnt call anything on it. All in all I guess they are TRYING to make it a rivalry, but it's Nashville...

Yep on the GDT I pointed that out a couple times because the Nashville game feed was the one I could see.

Friggin homers.

The Columbus Blue Jackets TV crew is the same way. Normally they are pretty good unless the Jackets are playing Nashville or Detroit, then it's all homer all the time.

So hitting a guy squarely with your elbow in his friggin EAR is borderline?

You honestly think Arnott drove his elbow into Lebda's head?

Anyway, I think Pete and Terry are awesome. They have fun calling games, they're funny guys and they really know their s***. They're homers of course, but every announcer is, Redmond is just as bad as the rest of the league. I've heard him make some ridiculous statements as well. Plus Pete and Terry are very nice guys to meet and talk with, Pete Weber posts on our message boards once in a while, and there aren't many guys in hockey who can tell a better story than Terry Crisp.

It was a forearm shiver. He didnt "drive his elbow into Lebda's head" but he brought up the elbow. Its not like Lebda is 5' 2". Theres 5 inches between Lebda and Arnott. Last time I checked thats not the distance between a head and an elbow.

Anyways, this debate is lame. Jason Arnott brought up his elbow, but I doubt he really wanted to hurt Lebda. Hes not really a dirty player. But it was an elbow, it was worthy of a penalty and the check couldve been made legally. At any rate, we need to stop talking about this hit like it was groundbreaking. It happened and it wasnt that big of a deal. Lets move on.

hahaha i never knew that

Please dont speak for everyone. Ive never met a person who didnt know that Detroit was French. Its not like it was settled by them or anything.

hahaha so Hudler is the dirty wings player theyre talking about eh?? Maybe they didnt call it because any player who's 6'1 and gets checked by a player generously listed at 5'8, 175 and whose nickname is "the Penguin" shouldnt move an inch?? I kid, i kid. I didnt see the play.

i didnt claim to speak for everyone

yeah i know....but I can just see some Nashville troll coming over here and telling all his Pred buddies "Wings fans don't even know that Detroit is French"

Kronwall is working on that reputation. And that's been noted by several posters on this very site. He's a damn good hitter, but sometimes he can get a little carried away.

And don't act like Chelios and Maltby haven't had their fair share of "dirty" accusations from all across the league, not just nashville announcers.

We all like to think that our teams are squeaky clean, our Arena is the loudest, our fans the classiest and so on. But every team has a dirty player, stupid fans and other assorted black marks on their franchise that they're not proud of.

Is that really true Legionnaire?? Is that what other teams think?? Ive actually never heard that before. Chelios and Maltby I can understand of course, although the past two years theyve both been (sadly) playing very clean. (Not that I want other players to be injured, but it would be nice to see some guys play with an edge once in a while). But this Kronwall business I had never heard. Ive never heard of the cleanliness of his open ice hits being questioned, but I could be wrong.

i've read it on here, Wings fans concerned about some of his hits, leaving his feat and all and him getting a reputation of being a dirty player. I mean, he doesn't have a reputation yet, but there's certainly the possibility that he becomes a Kasparitis type of d-man. Not that there's anything wrong with that when he's on your team, but as an opponent you don't want to face him.

and as for dirty play...

What about the last matchup between these two. Chelios put an elbow right into Tootoo's mouth, and the only thing being said on here about that was "Hahaha, Tootoo deserves it"... But of course, Arnott is dirty and drove lebda's head into the boards, practically split his head open with that vicious elbow right in the temple...

It's usually hard to find a good broadcast. Vancouver's guys are pretty good. But usually you'll either find very homerish calls, or if a guy is trying to be un-biased, it ends up being a bland and booring broadcast. I like Detroit, Nashville, Pittsburgh and Vancouver. I really couldn't comment on St. Louis and Chicago, I can't stand to listen to those feeds for more than 2 minutes, just the tone of voice and the way the pronounce words, draw them out and such, it's a very difficult listen.

I do like the Montreal broadcast... but I never know what they're saying :P

St. Louis's broadcasters are the worst.

No YG they didn't say he was dirty. They were pointing out the cheap shots/non calls on Pred players from the last two game.

Of Course there were no cheap shots/no calls from the Preds (sarcasm on)

I agree Crazy the St. Blewus announcers are terrible.

The problem in St. Louis is John Kelly went there from Altitude. The good news is, they split up the worst team in professional sports history when they took Kelly away from Peter McNab. The bad news is, now there are two teams soiled by complete idiots instead of just one.

They're utter dips***s. Well, maybe we're just spoiled-- Mickey and Ken are probably the most impartial announcers of any team.

How is being called a dirty team a good thing? Detroit is and has been one of the classiest teams in the NHL IMO over the past 10-20 years. Steve Yzerman was and is still a big part of that classiness of the Red Wings franchise. I take great pride in being a fan of the Detroit Red Wings, and I get pissed off beyond belief when I hear those words ever mentioned by some biased homer loving SOB's about my team.

You won't have to worry about stupid Nashville fans much longer. Unless they win the cup this year, I would expect them to be in another city in the next 5 years. My buddy was in Nashville a couple weeks ago. He couldn't believe it; he said it was as if this unbelievably talented hockey team dosen't even exist.
