mosessloan 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2007 Its already set. My uncle's Penguin-fleer SUV is obsolete, lest they win the Cup! then it's a collectors. Wings to the new NE Div/Eastern Conf. This hurts, i live in CHI now. The Wings/Sabres rivalry will rule Versus Network for the coming years, not to mention the Habs and Leafs will make even more dough with DET rolling through respective arenas. That alone will support sunbelt teams and avoid contraction. More things change... ITS A REGIONAL SPORT afterall. You think Bettman doesn't know this? And Las Vegas is not an option. WhiteLightning91 105 Report post Posted March 11, 2007 Is that your opinion of how it should be or something that has been confirmed by the NHL...I can't imagine they would let something like that go public considering the Pens and Pittsburgh officials have not made a definite decision yet on the arena soap opera so I'm gonna say that is your opinion. drwscc 212 Report post Posted March 11, 2007 There's no way the league would do this. If any team is moving to the Eastern Conference, it would be Columbus, since they are farther East than the Wings. Besides, I can't see all the Western Conference owners giving up the cash cow that is the travelling Wings show. Bunk, I say.
joshy207 156 Report post Posted March 11, 2007 From watching the Satellite Hot Stove on CBC tonight, it sounds like Pittsburgh and the Penguins are getting close to an arena deal. So let's not go moving anyone around yet. I have a solution to the travel imbalance between East and West... eliminate geographic divisons altogether. Set it up so each team has roughly the same travel all year. You could even re-draw the divisions every few years to mix things up. The NHL has had non-geographic divisons before... look at these alignments. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/leagues...hl19271975.html http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/leagues...hl19271981.html The foundations for true geographic divisions were there, but you also had Montreal and Los Angeles in the same division. mosessloan 0 Report post Posted March 11, 2007 A source? It's called a contingency plan, all organEYEzations have them. They also follow something called a business model. Ever hear of one of dem' hockey fans? Go to Terry Fosters blog at DETNEWS and let them hear how you feel about the possibility. The strongest owner could create some leverage. Do they make the playoffs ever year? Are they a contending team? Detroit can answer yes too all those questions. So Detroit should get the move, It's fans suffer the 10:00 P.M. and 10:30 P.M. games when its a regular or playoff season game. Bluejackets and fans only suffer the regular season games. Trust me, if any re-alignment happens (and it won't now with pittsburgh seemingly getting their arena deal done), it'll be Columbus moving and NOT Detroit. The Columbus management doesn't think it can compete with the elites in the West. They might be right. In the East they wouldn't be a playoff team yet, but they'd be closer there (and would've been closer last year as well) than in the West.
lfd250 1 Report post Posted March 19, 2007 Even though there is no more talk of this and one may or may not care but JLA most easten part is W 83 3' .9" (roughly) Columbus Arena most easten part is W 83 0' 18.9" (Roughly) this according to Google Earth Maps Now, I'm not sure what the numbers mean because I thought that 18" is also 1'6" . so may be someone can figure it out.
