TheLegend19 1 Report post Posted March 16, 2007 NHL.com Article The oldest celebrity in hockey not named Chris Chelios celebrates his birthday Sunday when the Stanley Cup turns 115. Short and stout, the little guy has worn his age well and, to our knowledge, Stanley hasn’t had any work done to keep him looking so young. I know it's early, but I have a feeling that with the games going on this weekend (not just hockey games, for those Irish folk ) this would forget to be mentioned. The Stanley Cup will turn 115 on Sunday, March 18. The original Stanley Cup sits in the fault at the Hockey Hall of Fame. The vault also contains the retired bands around the Cup. They recently retired the band that contained the Stanley Cup winners from 1940-'41 - 1952-'53 Also, if you have a minute or two, try this Stanley Cup "Tour" Interested in the Engraving of the Cup? Zetter is Better 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2007 (edited) HAPPY BIRTHDAY STANLEY! We will be seeing you soon ! From the Wikipedia article: In 1998 when the Detroit Red Wings won the cup again, Captain Steve Yzerman directly handed The Stanley Cup to Vladimir Konstantinov in his wheel chair. The whole team followed as the first lap of the cup was carried by Konstantinov with the entire team in unity. ^Leadership^ Edited March 16, 2007 by Zetter is Better

Flip-check 6 Report post Posted March 17, 2007 ' But the apple doesn't fall far from the tree -- St. Jacques has an eleven-year old son, Eric James, who is also a hockey fan. "He's playing hockey and loves it. But he's really funny when he sees the Stanley Cup," smiles the proud mother. "He calls it, ‘My Cup.' He says, 'Mama, there's my Cup on TV!' But he's grown up with the Stanley Cup." ' -- INSANE, I TELL YOU.
Zetter is Better 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2007 (edited) Wikipedia : 1927 Stanley Cup brawl In Game 4 of the 1927 Stanley Cup Finals, Boston Bruins defenseman Billy Coutu started a brawl, apparently at the request of coach Art Ross. When Coutu punched referee Jerry LaFlamme, he became the first, and only NHL player, to receive a lifetime suspension. On October 8, 1929, the suspension was lifted so Coutu could play in the minor leagues. He never played in the NHL again, although in 1932-33, on the insistence of Leo Dandurand, he was reinstated to the NHL. [65] Thats funny, I thaught that Chris Simon had the longest suspension in NHL history BUT its actually Billy Coutu who was banned for a few seasons. Hmmmmmm........... I guess people forgot about this Edited March 17, 2007 by Zetter is Better
