Guest Agalloch Report post Posted April 6, 2007 I don't see the point in picking who we want to face. Who we play is who we play. If the Wings want to make a long run and go to the Cup they are going to have to face tough teams regardless. Have some faith, people, and for the love of God stop with this fear of Western Canada. SCREW them! I don't fear the teams in western Canada. I fear the fact that everytime we play there, or, well, anywhere on the west coast, we take dozens of penalties. I'm sure the Wings will be much better in terms of that come playoff time. I think it'd be moreso the Flames will the penalties galore..thats just because of their style of play. YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted April 6, 2007 Someone of you seriously want to face Backstrom and Gaborik? Ever since those two have returned/entered the lineup, the Wild have been amazing. I'm not sure I want the Wild, but then again, the Flames are the type of team we always lose against. Plus, we'd have to go to western Canada. Bah, I don't know. Just give us the Blackhawks in the first round. Backstroms been dominating for sure....but his stats are inflated due to facing the late abysmal Oilers and shutting them out in three games aganst them. Thats nothing too impressive these days. To me, Minnesota is preferable because Detroit has the ability to shut down speedy finesse guys but has more trouble with the imposing power forward types. Minnesota simply matches up better with Detroit. That being said, Im getting pretty impartial to who we play. Weve shown we dont fold when the going gets rough and can win playoff type games. This is the same site that called Jiri, Rex! LOL Sprained would be MUCH more serious..and he'd be out for awhile.

HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted April 6, 2007 i know i just hate their mistakes, while its a 1 letter difference, its a BIG difference hahaha Haha a SCARY difference. When someone posted it in the GDT stating he sprained his neck I nearly died. I was like WHAT!!!! Sprained and strained are much different. That's kinda like comparing a bruise to a broken bone or fracture. Much different. I think tomorrow we'll know much more though.

Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted April 6, 2007 Bertuzzi Wings' Todd Bertuzzi strains neck; is day-to-day Red Wings power forward Todd Bertuzzi strained his neck during the first period against Chicago Thursday and did not return to the game. Bertuzzi may have been hurt during a collision with Chris Osgood. The Wings did not give any further details on Bertuzzi; for the moment, he is day to day. The game was only Bertuzzi's eighth since returning from a five-month layoff after undergoing back surgery.

HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted April 6, 2007 update on Bert and Lids a little more from this morning regarding injuries. Aside from Hank and Kronner, of course, it sounds like they will all be back for game 1 I don't know if there is truth in that Dom has that soreness in his thigh again or if they are just saying this to give him rest? The Zetterberg situation never seems to get any better. Everyday it's something new, and not once has there been any confidence that he'll be 100%. Bertuzzi I think will most definitely be ready. A strain is a strain, he's a big boy and he can handle it. Lidstrom is fine as well especially after him saying that in an interview last night. They are just resting him as well. Hopefully come early next week they'll all be 100% and ready to go.

I always enjoy the side-stepping and nebulous reports about "injuries" this time of year, don't you? I am glad Ozzie's OK, that collision with Bert had to be no fun at all. Wings will come back and make some of those 58 SOG count on Saturday, I say! Make Khabibulin sweat, but for a different reason this time.

SO DOES THAT MEAN OZZIE'S LAST GAME OF THE SEASON WASN'T LAST NIGHT?!
Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted April 6, 2007 I’m just accepting the fact that Zetterberg will not be back for the start of the playoffs. I mean this doesn’t give me much hope… Babcock hopes Zetterberg can play when the playoffs begin next week, but to Babcock’s credit, he readily admits he’s said he hopes Zetterberg will be back soon for several weeks now. NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted April 6, 2007 Sounds good, Loo! SO DOES THAT MEAN OZZIE'S LAST GAME OF THE SEASON WASN'T LAST NIGHT?! I just don't see Babs playing Dom tomorrow. The way he's been talking to the media about how comfortable he feels with the Wings situation (and Dom not needing to play tomorrow), I see Oz getting the nod again. BTW, I am all for Oz closing out the regular season. It's just one more game he could get in, to be prepared for the playoffs if need be.

All we need to do is lose one game at home, and we can expect to lose in Western Canada. I said Detroit in 7, but how about Calgary in 6?

I said Detroit in 7, but how about Calgary in 6? On the flipside: All Calgary has to do is lose one game at home, and its Detroit in 5, based on your logic. Its funny how people give the Wings opponent the benefit of the doubt for winning all their home games, but not when it comes to Detroit.
