NHL Center Ice during playoffs question

Rate this topic

Greetings all...

Isn't NHL Center Ice supposed to keep rolling until the conclusion of the 2nd round of the playoffs for both conferences?

I had Direct TV last season and never had any problems with Center Ice, but now have digital TV with my local cable provider. I finally had time to watch a lot of hockey yesterday and tried to watch some of Anaheim-Minnesota on NHL Center Ice to no avail. The same thing tonight when I tried to tune into New Jersey-Tampa Bay (?) for a few minutes.

Did NHL Center Ice change their rules up, or is it just because more games might be broadcasted on VS this playoff year, or is it my cable provider?

First off, get DirecTV again, cable of any kind blows... ;)

If the game is on VS in your area, it will not be on the Center Ice channels from what I have seen so far. I have been able to watch every game so far on Center Ice or VS/NBC. Not absolutely positive of what Digital Cable does with Center Ice, so you may have to check with them for scheduling.

I have Bell Expressvu with the Center Ice package, I haven't seen any playoff games on the Center Ice package yet. Luckilly I have TSN & CBC.

I wish DTV would make a deal with them... watching the NHL on CBC would be a dream come true.

Oddly enough, I noticed that the games were listed on the Center Ice package (on 701 - the first center ice station in my area)...they weren't actually showing up on the guide..but they were being aired.

ie. I am guessing SWF you didn't get the Ducks game on Versus..it was on Center Ice.

It actually finally started listing them on the guide for me this past Sunday...(You know you hit guide..the little menu pops up...and it just says NHL CENTER ICE or if there's a game it says NHL HOCKEY and if you scroll over it - shows the game.) Mine didn't do that until just Sunday afternoon. I was freaking out. They are there...If they aren't...I can't imagine why.

Every game that isn't on versus or NBC- it's airing on center ice. I've gotten them all so far and will continue to get them until the end of Round 2.

Hopefully this helps.

I had Direct TV where I was temporarily displaced to due to the hurricanes in August 2005. I finally got back home in late April of last year to my old residency and have always had digi cable here and am content with it.

I don't particularly watch much TV in terms of specific shows or the like, more of a grazer while doing other things around the house. The only time I really need to watch TV is if the Wings come on or my alma mater has any football/basketball games on TV, so actually in the grand scheme of things throughout the year, there's not much need for me to switch, despite me liking Direct TV, not my cable provider offers Center Ice and has VS on it already.

If I absolutely have to watch something, I'll go to a sports bar that I know of which pretty much has every Direct TV channel or ask my family to TiVo something from their Direct TV or just go to their place and watch their Direct TV/FSN Sports package on my way home. It just comes to that so little though throughout the year that it's not really worth the switch.

*shurgs* :D

I'll check one more time tonight to see if they show the few games on Center Ice here that aren't on VS.

well i have time warner and all thats on where the hockey was is baseball. it will show a game now and then but i think its only when vs isn't showing it.

Well with my crappy cable company in Nova Scotia they show that the games will be on NHL Center Ice but when they are supposed to start they magically turn to baseball games. I hope tonight that isn't the case as the Dallas game is not being carried by anyone in this market.

I'd love Bell Express Vu or DirecTV but the wind in my area means I wouldn't be watching much playoff hockey at all.

I have comcast... what I do not see on Center Ice I see on Versus... by the way, Yahoo! broadcasts a couple of live games. The thing is with CI, you get the first 2 rounds of the playoffs, everything else is on NBC and Versus for those in the US, I am not sure about Canada.

Correct my friend with the Red Game Day Thong.

I got home a while ago and tried to tune into the Rangers/Thrashers game for a few while I was making dinner, but no avail. I have to subscribe apparently to my cable service provider. Whether that means forking out cash, I don't know. Wouldn't think that would be the case since I already have Center Ice.

Ah well, it the Wings weren't on VS all the time, and I wasn't so pre-occupied with things like dinner and cleaning and sorting through mail and making some quick posts in here before the Wings play, I'd put some more effort into seeing what the problem was.

Right now though I've just grazed at the non-Wings games on VS while doing a bunch of other things. I don't get riled up by any bad commentary or anything like that, as long as there is hockey on TV, I'll glance at it every now and again. And if it is just on VS, then so be it, that's fine with me.

I have center ice and watched most of the Wild vs Ducks game and have the option of watching tonight as well. I live in Phoenix now and have Cox as a cable provider.

Cox is my cable provider as well where I'm from and I'm not getting the Center Ice games. Interesting.......

Well, I decided to put a call in to my cable provider, but I was too late they were closed unfortuantely.

What's weird is I got the Ducks/Wild game last night, not on VS at all, but neither of the other few games that weren't on VS weren't on NHL Center Ice either.

Interesting and curious I am about this.....
