BuckeyeWingsfan80 209 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 The ref might have seen it on his pads. But look at the Buffalo non-goal last night--the puck was clearly in the net but the video review "determined" it went in illegally off of this glove. How is this any different? Because the rules clearly state that a puck cannot ever go off of an offensive player's glove and into the net and count as a goal. Please don't confuse the issue here. Bartek 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 (edited) As opposed to everyones, "the Red wings played like crap", I disagree with you. I'm very happy with the way the played. The wings showed us they have the ability to beat the speed and tenacity of the Ducks. I think we will gain 2 in anaheim, and in 5 will be over. After the first game, I was sweating bullets about the rest of the series. Now, even when we lost, there is no despair. We played great. Keep up that second/third period play, and we have this series. the ducks cant stop us now, we know how they play. Just like calgary and SJ, we are onto you now, Mr. Dukkies. See you in anaheim. That's the problem with the Wings - to spread that one period good effort to all three periods.. Red Wings often forget that they have to play all 60 minutes in a hockey game.. And I really hate the fact Ducks outshot and - especially that - outhit us Edited May 14, 2007 by Bartek
swedishconnection 36 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 Here's what sucks about the BS 3rd Anaheim goal. The following players had great games, but nothing is being said about it: Lids Z Lang Maltby Yes Robert Lang, the whipping boy of LGW put together a strong effort. He especially excelled on the PP with some precision passing. You all saw his great assist to Dats, but he also made a couple great passes on the last PP that didn't get put in, but could have. Lidstrom and Zetterberg played exceptional tonight. Zetterberg was by far our best forward in the defensive zone, he won a lot of individual battles there. Lids, played like....well Lidstrom. He was our overall best player. Finally, I thought Malby's goal turned the momentum of the game in our favor. Even though Anaheim got another goal shortly after that, we seemed to play a lot better. On the other side, I thought Draper, Cleary, and Lilja had poor games. I love that PP combination. Lids, Sammy manning the point... Lang on the left Half boards... Pavel bottom of right circle, and homer doing his buisness. We need a right handed shooter our there on the left boards to set up passes better. Thumbs up for the backdoor Pavel Play! Offsides 21 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 The Wings don't lay down and die. It was one game. Now they will have the fire to play a good 60 minutes...nay, 120 minutes. Because we are going to take the next 2 on the road. I feel it!
uncle ovipositor 6 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 I incurred more heart attacks in this game as opposed to game 1. You guys were DESTROYING us on penalty kill. It really seemed that everytime you were shorthanded, it was an advantage for you. I'm glad we hung in there, and Scottie had a great OT goal. I did love Lidstrom's goal though, how he waited patiently for the shot, saw his opening, and fired away. Once again, Hasek was great, and we better think of more ways to disrupt his play, as I'm pretty sure we can't rely on reviewed goals for the rest of the series. I only caught about 10 minutes of this game, sadly. The Detroit PK doesn't get much credit, but they are so damn good. There was a lot of talk about how the Shark's PP was failing, but they were greatly aided in that process by Detroit. If the Ducks can throw some different looks up there it might help, but Detroit's so quick to adapt that it'll be a narrow window of opportunity. I don't know how many different ways the Ducks can go at it, frankly - they've played one PP most of the season. But they do have some talent that they could give a chance to. And as others have said, these 2 conference finals are just incredible. After the Nashville/Sharks brawl in game 2 I was thinking I was done with playoff hockey. Since the games have been great and I'm back into it. It's a great time to be a hockey fan.
shadow47 1 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 Blame Rob Schick on that third Ducks goal, for distracting Hasek seconds before the shot was taken by skating over and sticking his water bottle in the holder (it also appeared he said something)...meanwhile Giguere's bottle is sitting out of the holder all game. Bartek 0 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 I like your sig... funny though as that was reversed last nights for Malts... Damn, I forgot about that check on Maltby into the bench when adding my sig.. Really looks funny now Well, let's just think of it as of some kind of support to Maltby ("Kirk, you can do it, too, just play hard and hit often in game 3 )
dicksmack 33 Report post Posted May 15, 2007 Because the rules clearly state that a puck cannot ever go off of an offensive player's glove and into the net and count as a goal. Please don't confuse the issue here. You're the one who's confused. The video review on the Sabres non-goal was subjective in that they were judging that it went in off of his glove only and not both the glove and the stick. It's not like the puck was in the air and he swatted it out of air with his hand off of his stick. Vanek had both hands on his stick and was making a normal shooting motion, that call could have went either way, it's not conclusive. Maltby scored just such a goal against Edmonton last year early in the series. Anyways, It's only 1-1 and I'm not going to get nervous until we're down two games.
