Bertuzzi

I know a lot of people really hate Bertuzzi...

But saying he doesn't have good hands is ridiculous. That is the one thing about him that has really been noticeable since he's been back. Sometimes it looks like he's got a magnet to the puck on his stick. He's also able to finish high within two feet of the goal line - that certainly isn't easy.

Fuss at him for the occasional bonehead play or penalty if you need something to complain about. But for the love of all things hockey, don't question his stick handling and finishing skill.

Know what I love about Bert? The fact that he is so very strong on the puck. There can be two players on him trying to get the puck from him and with just one hand he absolutely dominates carrying the puck in and making a good pass.

I always thought of Bert in high regard as a hockey player. Sure, I hated to see Bert pummel Chelios to a pulp during that series against Vancouver.

And he did have an "incident". But I know that Wings fans would have been behind him had he done what he did for one of those people wearing the red wheel?

Bert is not in his prime anymore, and he came off a BIG injury. You can't expect him to muck it up to the point where he is back on the slab having surgery?

Personally, I hope Todd does stay on the team a few years. The man has great hands, is very tough, and perhaps the only player on the Wings that can stand up to anyone in the league.

bert is a shadow of his old self but he has a role with this team. He should be re-signed for 1.5m or less...

Too soon to tell, I think. A year from now we will all have a better idea of where he is, physically and mentally.

I'm actually pretty disappointed in his play. He turns the puck over too often, and although he has scored two goals in the past two games, I have the terrible feeling thats an irregularity based on his style of play of late.

Bottom line, I think he can push himself more, because when I see him skating out there, he doesn't look hungry for a cup at all.

Anyone noticed the very poor hands of Bertuzzi ??

He is NO WAY the player he was in Vancouver

He definitely stepped up (beginning of the playoffs he was playing like Lang) but he is still far from the first line clutch playoff guy than he was..

Also the guy is not really fast and does not fit with Detroit's game, i don't give a f. about his useless hits...

I'd say keep him before the cap... But right now : do NOT resign this guy

Finally someone with his blinders off

Your perseption is that, if we don't hate Bertuzzi and wish him dead, that makes us blind homers. And that's a pretty piss poor one at that.

Yeah you just keep thinking hes a superstar,if it makes you sleep at night

I don't think he's a superstar. For that matter, he has been somewhat disappointing at times during these playoffs. But still though, I don't think he is the worst player in the world and hope he gets killed like you do.

Also for that matter, I have not once, under my tenure at these forums, actually compliment a Wing. Your username suggests you like Draper, but I highly doubt it, since you spend more time saying that Bertuzzi sucks ass and calling us all blind homers then actually watching the Wings.

Wow.

You know what? Forget it. Dealing with you is like pulling teeth. You can hate Bertuzzi all you want. It really doesn't bother me, since people are entitled to their own opinions.

Bertuzzi isn't here to do the same thing he did in Canada. I hope he signs...for less, yes, but definitely think that when he's 100% he'll be a big asset to the team.

Plus, PEOPLE LIKE HIM. I mean, it's someone who people have actually gotten excited about. Red Wing fans are hard to please but there's been quite a buzz around Bertuzzi, and I've seen a lot over Bert jersies...for him being such a newbie that's outstanding.

It's nice to have a player who can be exciting and not necessarily get knocked around (except by Ozzie) like some of our more finesse-y players do.

Bert = Wing next season :D
