Guest Crymson Report post Posted June 24, 2007 (edited) i dont know why hudler and meech is that hard to believe can be enough for pitkanen a guy who they really wanna trade for some reason , hudler's value is pretty good , 15 goals with no ice time and basically no real offensive linemates and derek meech whos nhl ready ........some of the rumors i heard have raffi torres, mike commodore or niclas wallin going back , id rather have hudler/meech together then any one of those , you put hudler with someone like hartnell and carter, 2 big guys around him and he'll do good This may help you understand. Take Pitkanen on one side, and what we have to offer on the other. Philly: A 40+ pt scoring, large, young defenseman who hasn't reached his full potential yet. Detroit: An undersized, mostly unproven forward and a totally unproven defenseman. "NHL-ready" means nothing. Jamie Pushor was NHL-ready. Raffi Torres is in trade value worth far more than Hudler and Meech combined. Commodore and Wallin are both proven defensemen, albeit nowhere near Pitkanen's trade value; it won't happen. At worst, if it DID happen, Philly would at least be getting a solid defenseman in return for sending out a solid defenseman. So, in short: no, Philly will not want an undersized forward and a defenseman who has neither any experience nor any clout about him in exchange--in fact, I doubt Philly even knows who he is-- for a 40+ pt scoring D-man. mine you i like hudler and if it was me id keep him , but i dont think babcock likes him and wont play him much so we might as well get something , and meech is out of waiver options and id rather have quincey in the lineup then meech Meech is an average, unproven defenseman. You might as well pull somebody off of the street, for how much somebody like that will mean in trade value to any team. We might get a 4th-round+ pick out of him, AT BEST. But remember, if you are an opposing team, are you gunna worry about Hank, Pav, Homer, Sammy, hell even Lang, or Rex? Come on. I won't deny that the guy has talent, but your putting way too much value on him. Meech being NHL ready is a matter of opinion. If he is NHL ready, why wasn't he in the lineup instead of Quincey? And if he is NHL ready, why don't you want him? If you'd seriously take Rex and Meech over Commodore and Torres....wow
Donaldjr2448 43 Report post Posted June 25, 2007 Here is what we need to do!! Resign Schinder, Markov, Bertuzzi and Hasek. There is no reason to mess up what we have, I understand that Scheinds may get more money else where, but he has to know that his career is just about over and this may be his last chance to win a cup, that is the same for Bert, Markov and Dom. I really think Schineds is bluffing, at least I hope so. We let Lang and Calder go, so I can't see why we wouldn't be able to sign Matty, Danny, Bert and Dom. GET IT DONE KENNY!!! haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted June 25, 2007 I Think they should resign McCarty. He's an Unrestricted Free Agent. They bought him out a couple years ago because of his salary but now he is affordable. I think he will benefit from coming back! No thanks. Mac had a great run with the Wings, but they bought him out because he was ineffective and injury prone. 08-Apr-07: Missed 47 games (hip injury). 27-Dec-06: Hip injury, sidelined indefinitely. 19-Oct-06: Missed 2 games (groin). 14-Oct-06: Groin, day-to-day. 07-Apr-06: Missed 3 games (groin). 01-Apr-06: Groin, day-to-day. 31-Mar-06: Missed 2 games (back injury). 26-Mar-06: Back injury, day-to-day. 09-Mar-06: Missed 1 game (flu). 07-Mar-06: Flu, day-to-day. 31-Dec-05: Missed 3 games (hip flexor). 26-Dec-05: Hip flexor, day-to-day. 01-Nov-05: Missed 4 games (head injury). 23-Oct-05: Head injury, day-to-day. LucRobitaille20 0 Report post Posted June 25, 2007 The following is a list of Wings players (and their salaries) already signed: Forwards (11) Pavel Datsyuk (6.7m) Henrik Zetterburg (2.7m) Kris Draper (2.128m) Thomas Holmstrom (2.25m) Kirk Maltby (0.883m) Johan Franzen (0.9m) Valterri Filpulla (0.85m) Daniel Cleary (0.675m) Tomas Kopecky (0.45m) Even McGrath (0.65m) Igor Grigorinko (0.45m*) Defensemen (7) Niklas Lidstrom (7.6m) Chris Chelios (0.85m) Andreas Lilja (1m) Niklas Kronwall (1.5m) Brett Lebda (0.55m) Kyle Quincey (0.535m) Johathan Ericsson (0.475m) Goalies (2) Chris Osgood (.8m) Jimmy Howard (0.85m) This puts the Wings at about 33.1 mil salary-wise. Detroit will probably sign Hasek for around 1.5 mil, Hudler for around 0.75 mil (if he's not traded), and Bertuzzi for roughly 2-3 mil. That puts the Wings at about 38 mil, leaving them with 11 mil to sign Schneider, Markov, and/or other free agents (with a 49 mil salary cap). Detroit will need one more experienced defenseman, so I think they will try and re-sign Schneider for 4 mil. If they can't get him for that price, then I'm sure they'll go after another d-man just below his caliber. That'll leave the Wings with 7 mil. I think they should try and pick up Kozlov for 3-4 mil and a cheap 3rd/4th line player (1 mil) or two solid 2nd/3rd line players (i.e. Nolan, Zednik, Sykora, Handzus to name a few) for 2.5 mil each, either way leaving the wings with 2-3 mil for the trade deadline. I'd like to see these lines come September: Zetterburg Datsyuk Holmstrom Bertuzzi Filpulla Kozlov Cleary (*Center) Nolan Maltby Draper Franzen *Hudler, Kopecky, or Grigorenko Lidstrom Lillja Schneider Kronwall Chelios Lebda Hasek Osgood

And your lines don't match up with your proposed scenario--you suggest spending 5m on either Kozlov and a 1m winger, or 5m on two guys like Nolan or Zednik, then you have Kozlov AND Nolan. Also, Ericsson, McGrath and Howard are not going to count against the cap. Quincey may not either, depending on injuries and signings. Hudler did have limited PT. But remember, if you are an opposing team, are you gunna worry about Hank, Pav, Homer, Sammy, hell even Lang, or Rex? Come on. IF Neidermayer retires, a deal involving Bryzgalov to Phoenix for Nick Boynton makes sense. If I'm Phoenix, I would rather trade Jovanovski than Boynton.
