When I read the thread title, I thought someone had taken the former player nostalgia to a new extreme.

Yeah I saw this on ESPN news the other day. I was actually pretty suprised to see that. It seamed like Dallas Drake was a consistent part of their production(or lack there of). All I know is, no way in hell I would ever wanna see Dallas Drake in the winged wheel ever again.

I second this 100%. There are a couple of former Wings that I wouldn't mind seeing back in Detroit and Dallas Drake isn't one of them.

The Stars should pick him up; they could use him as the team mascot.

Whomever picks up Drake will get a lot of grit, leadership, and heart for a very reasonable price. I just don't understand why St. Louis did this. The intention is to buy out Drake, and if no one picks him off waivers, he wil be bought out. However, St. Louis gains nothing by doing this. They will still be on the hook for his $1.1.

I always hated having to play him but I don't know why everybody seems to really, truly hate the guy. I always thought he was a team player and probably one of the hardest hitters of the past 10 or so years.

Why wouldn't we want the guy? Is his salary too much for what he brings? Does he no longer play a physical, hard hitting game? Is he a complete cheapshot artist? I seem to remember him getting in trouble for a couple of his high hits.

I'm not too familiar with him so maybe somebody could fill me in on why we hate him so much?

I don't hate him at all; I just really don't think we have any use for him whatsoever. He's 39 and he can't score. He can only hit. We've got Franzen for that purpose.

As far as his cheapshots go, I've only seen this one:

No they won't. They'll be on the hook for his buy-out price which is two thirds of the contract.

Quoted from www.spectorshockey.net/traderumors

'.....Blues have placed veteran forward Dallas Drake (team captain) on waivers, a process necessary to buy out the remaining year of his contract. Teams have 24 hours to claim him, but if he goes unclaimed, the $1.1 million he was owed for next season will be bought out at two-thirds it's value but because Drake was over 35 and signed a multi-year deal it'll still count as $1.1 million against their cap next season.'

That's what I was referring to.

...you guys make me laugh! You loved him when he was here, bitched when he got traded and now you hate him cause he doesn't play for us! Just like Shanahan, Fedorov & Avery, you'd cheer them if they came back. How many of you hated Hasek when he was talking about possibly returning last season? Most of you said the same s***, "HELL NO!" Now you love him again...

...if the WIngs picked up Drake, they'd be picking up a leader, someone who isn't afraid to hit and someone who has a heart bigger than the St. Louis Arch. Not that there is room forhim on this team, but theoretically speaking...

Anaheim would sue. Mister Drake would hate taking a shift against Pronger with a foam mallard head in lieu of helmet.

Thats one of the dumest things I have ever heard. First thing no ever bitched on here when he got traded (seeing as there was no internet then). And in his short time here I wouldnt really say he ws loved. I really dont remember anyone crying when he left either.

Besides, we got Bob Essensa out of the deal!!!
