Zion 93 Report post Posted July 2, 2007 Is Detroit going after Henrik Lundqvist? I can't think of a better reason why Hasek hasn't signed yet. The Rangers spent a LOT of money and the Wings always are on the lookout for goaltending.

Opie 308 Report post Posted July 2, 2007 That would have to involve Howard and at least one other top prospect. Detroit should not make this move for what could turn out to be a one hit wonder, the next Jim Carrey!
yzerman&thewings=CUP 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2007 ya but if the rangers traded lundqvist they be screwed so its not gonna happen well if they ended up doing that, it probably means they want to hand the reigns to Montoya, but I don't think he is ready and Lundqvist is too good to move. NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted July 2, 2007 > Detroit trying to get Lundqvist?, Why else isn't Hasek signed yet? I can tell you it sure as hell isn't because Detroit is trying to get Lundqvist. If the Rangers moved Henrik than everything the just did yesterday is for naught. The Rangers spent a LOT of money and the Wings always are on the lookout for goaltending. Maybe, just maybe, Hasek is holding off on signing to allow Holland some wiggle-room on his UFA signings. They could structure the deal for more incentives, which would go against next season's cap money as opposed to loading it all on this year's cap. If a half million is the difference between keeping Bert or not, then maybe Hasek is willing to work with Kenny.
Jaromir Jagr 0 Report post Posted July 2, 2007 This thread makes me laugh. The rangers still have 11-12 million left under the cap.

Just the way Kenny has worded his references to Dom in the media have all strongly implied that it's a done deal, and if so, there's got to be a logical reason why it hasn't been inked yet. The rationale you gave above makes much sense to me. If so, t's good business on Hasek's part, but I think it also shows that he has a great deal of trust in Kenny, and vice versa. That must have been one helluva bottle of wine they shared!
BAFGA 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 WHy in the world would the Rangers trade their future goalie? Are they afraid of another Dan Blackburn meltdown? If they want to trade him to Detroit, fine....I'd take him.
