IceMunkee 15 Report post Posted August 27, 2007 I havent played in one before, but I am really serious about putting in the effort. I watch every single wings game on tv, and I will be getting Center Ice so I can keep updated on goings on around the NHL. I'd like to get my name on the list for a spot on the free LGW league. If not, I'll just keep my ear to the ground and try to get in when the league is forming. I am a commish for a yahoo! league and there will probably be a few slots this year. It is not official LGW or anything but it is a good time with some good players.
puckbags 863 Report post Posted August 27, 2007 Absolutely. Count me in. Not to brag by any means. But I view myself as a very good fantasy hockey gm. I've won 4 consecutive championships. However, I never play for money. So its sweet and all. But I only get bragging rights with the people In my leagues. Never cash. So I think this is definitely the year to start playing in a money league. Im excited. And Im guessing it will be sometime early October. So I'll keep my eyes open for the announcement. You will notice a huge difference when you play in a league for money. I've been in a league on CBS sportsline and we have 12 guys who pony up 60 bucks a piece for the season. Our transaction are fees are a flat 1 dollar for picking up waiver wire guy or for a trade. The winner got 500 dollars for winning last year..not a bad return on investment if you win. CBS runs a good show and is easy to use. You will find with money leagues that guy's don't take a day off and pay very close attention to what's going on!! auxlepli 17 Report post Posted August 28, 2007 Is there a market-based fantasy league? I like those better than the ones where players are drafted.
T-Ruff 47 Report post Posted August 28, 2007 (edited) Is there a market-based fantasy league? I like those better than the ones where players are drafted. Sportingnews.com runs outstanding market-based leagues for all sports.... I discovered it last year, and was heavily involved right out of the gate... I believe I had 4-5 teams each 'season' (there's no limit).... They have 2 seasons of fantasy hockey, the 1st is up to the All-Star break, and the 2nd is the rest of the regular season..... They have paid versions and free versions..... the only annoying thing is that you can buy trades even in the free version which gives those willing to spend an unfair advantage..... (usually get 2 trades a week) EDIT: link: http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/hockey/home.html Edited August 28, 2007 by T-Ruff

OsGOD 3 Report post Posted August 28, 2007 (edited) I don't remember who ran it last year but we did have an LGW yahoo league. I had alot of fun doing it and want to do it again. Unfortunately we had about 5 bad apples who wouldn't update their rosters and basically tanked the league. One guy even dumped all of his stars onto the FA pool, leading to some really unpleasant exchanges between other owners until cooler heads prevailed. If there is going to be an LGW yahoo (free) league please count me in! Although I think we need to limit the number of teams. Last year it felt like we had 4 teams too many. And based on the # of owners who tanked the league, it might be a good idea to drop some teams. Just curious, who played in that league? My team name was Old Time Hockey. I think I finished in the top 4? (I can't remember the outcome of the playoffs) You mean the Wings Pwn of the world? It was a horribly run league... 16 teams and only the top 6 made the playoffs. I myself was Default Team #1 and my friend at work was Motorcity Mayhem and Offsides was Llamas Myself and Motorcity would love to play inthe league again.. only this time I hope it is the OFFICIAL one and not some knock off. Motor City is making a league right now and as commish he will be able to make sure the s*** that went down last season WILL NOT happen again. I would still like to be in the official league but seeing how slots are limited we are also making this league. We will do our best to make sure dead teams do not take over the league and he is an excellent Commish, in fact he has a ton of fantasy sports games under his belt. PM me if you are interested and I will give you the details of the sign up when he finishes. Edited August 28, 2007 by OsGOD
IceMunkee 15 Report post Posted August 29, 2007 Hey guys! I have a good league set up in yahoo!. It has a live online draft set for 14 September at 8:30. It is usually a competetive league, we have had a few drop outs this year though and I figure where else to find some great hockey fans than here. It will be ten teams deep with the ability to go 12. This is not an official LGW league, but we would love to have those interested. Any serious players welcome. Please PM me if interested with your email address. The leagues name is Burnt Bisquits II
Matt 1,048 Report post Posted August 29, 2007 The FREE Official LGW.com Fantasy Hockey League has been registered. There will be a formal announcement soon. (The draft for that league will be held Saturday, September 15th at 6:00pm ET.) (Still waiting to see when registration for Sportsline's Hockey Commissioner league is made available as it will be the one used for the buy-in league.) Bannedforlife 403 Report post Posted August 29, 2007 I'd be interested in getting in on a keeper league. Anyone know of one starting up this year?
egroen 384 Report post Posted August 29, 2007 Anyone care to post their draft order??? I would prefer a live draft but am sure my league would not be doing it, so setting up my draft order is such a pain in the rear. I am actualy thinking of setting up Kippursoff, Luongo and Brodeur as my #1, #2, and #3 draft choices -- Even if I get all three, top-end goalies command a high prce and 80+ point scorers are a dime a dozen. I'm even thinking of trying to draft the elite defensemen before forwards this year.
