Salviaman 104 Report post Posted September 4, 2007 Danny Markov.... nope haven't heard anything about him for a month now. Wish he would come back, we could use him more this year than last with the loss of Schneider.

FinWing 26 Report post Posted September 4, 2007 Wish he would come back, we could use him more this year than last with the loss of Schneider. Why? He is not an offensive defenseman by any stretch and wasn't all that physical for us. Besides, we have promising young guys such as Quincey coming through who can do just as well. Guest Crymson Report post Posted September 29, 2007 Danny Markov.... nope haven't heard anything about him for a month now. Wish he would come back, we could use him more this year than last with the loss of Schneider. How do you figure? Schneider wasn't especially good on the defensive side of things, nor was Markov on the offensive side.
WhiteLightning91 105 Report post Posted September 29, 2007 (edited) I would be ecstatic to see Markov back in the red and white but not at the salary he is seeking. The problem is his demands exceed his worth to the team, but that's not to say he wasn't worth that much to us. He was no doubt our most physical player last year and was the only d-man who had any sort of nasty streak to him. I loved his passion for the game as well as the emotion he played with. Signing him to a $3M deal for 2 years was ideal to me. Even though he has been rumoured to be on his way to Beantown for the last month and a half, I still say there is a very good chance he signs with San Jose. They have more than enough cap room to meet his demands, and are without one of their physical presences on the blue-line from last year after lossing Hannan to the Avalanche this offseason. Add in the fact that SJ has a pretty damn good shot at winning the Cup again this year and its a win win for both parties. Aeothe Kaear 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2007 I dunno, I think he may be realizing he's not going to get the huge payday he might've been anticipating. Still hoping he re-ups in Detroit.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted September 29, 2007 I'd sign him now. With Sopel leaving, were still in need of a 3/4 defenceman, because the pair of Lilja/Kronwall just isnt very good. Kronner will go out of his way for big hits, and in the occasion of a miss, Lilja wont be able to handle the 2 on 1 or 3 on 1 coming his way.
Cicada 4 Report post Posted September 29, 2007 Sopel is worthless.. Markov is 10 times the defenseman
