well this is good news about Draper!

i was actually wondering what was in his future and i read here that he's looking for a 3 year extension.

love it.

and as for pay

give him what he wants, i think he's earned it with his hard work on the ice and his loyalty to the team.

plus he's having a good start to the season to boot; very happy about this news.

Don't bother.

Yzer19 is really Jamie, who was an Yzerman troll that was banned here about 2 years ago. She goes around to different Red Wings forums and posts her hate messages about Yzerman. She went under the names Alexei and Spuds at the MLive forums, and was the one who posted the famous "Yzerman to St. Louis" rumor on the day of the Wings home opener in 2005 at MLive. She's been going around to various forums spreading hate about Yzerman.

I highly doubt she is in any way a Wings fan at all, since it's pretty strange that someone would hate the guy that basically turned this franchise around.

(I also referred to her as a girl, since that's what most people think. The true identity is unknown though, so it could be a guy also)

Your confusing me with someone else. I am not any of those posters. I also don't hate the guy. He's my all-time favorite player. Just because he wasn't the best player doesn't mean I can't be a fan. The way I see it players fall into certain categories: Elite (Gretzky, Mario, Howe, Lids, Chelios, etc.), great(Robitaille, Larionov, Fetisov, etc.), good (Roenick, Kariya, Schneider, etc.), average (Draper, Maltby, McCarty, etc.), and below average (Deveraux, Gilchrist, etc.). Yzerman falls into the lower part of the good category. The reality is if both Lids and Yzerman had retired last year and they had to choose between either retiring Yzerman's or Lidstrom's number, they choose to retire Lidstrom's number.

Back to Draper, I think the Wings should sign him to a 1 year deal for under $1 million.

Good luck with that. Drapes will probably get somewhere in the ball park of $1.25 - $1.6 million over the course of a three year contract. If the Wings got him for $1 mil, it would be a steal......meaning it won't happen.

 Draper is worth 1.6 million a year. No problem. He had the best faceoff percentage in the league last year and is still a fantastic penalty killer.

Hell, he'd be worth a million just to sit with the younger guys and pass on his work ethic and leadership skills.

 That's hilarious. Luckily the entire hockey world considers Yzerman part of the elite category. Not surprising given that the big three in the 80's and 90's were Gretzky, Mario and Yzerman. Those two men were the only peers Yzerman had.

It's funny that you might actually believe the drivel you just spouted. Sad, but funny.

Edit: I should have ignored that troll, but s*** that post was just too retarded to pass up.

If you used proper capitalization and punctuation you'd definitely be in my top ten posters :hehe:

I do not know, how ANY person that calls themselve a Red Wing fan can hate Stevie Y.

Amen

In regards to the thread, I'd like to see Drapes for a few more years. I'd also like to see another commercial where he throws that one lady in the air. Her name escapes me at the moment...

Nell Carter. Oh, no, that wasn't her. Never mind. Would have been cool, though.

Anyway, I was sitting a chair last night, (pneumonia and bronchitis- I'm tired of sitting in chairs!) and I was reading The Hockey News 2004-5 Yearbook. (Yeah, not even Chris Chelios could be that bored). They said that even if Kris was goalless, he was still vital due to his style of play and leadership and mentoring ability. (Not a direct quote, just throwing together everything in the article). He's not goalless this season, and he still has all the rest of that, so I say:

Memo to Kenny: Get this guy signed. We got him off the dollar menu. He's paid for himself many times over.

ETA: sorry about the bad quote thing. No idea why it didn't work right. Guessing ID 10 T error.

Exact same thing I thought! In fact, there is almost no doubt in my mind that this is Jamie. No way anyone else is that hockey-retarded.

:clap::clap::clap:

Do what I do, just ignore the yzer19 troll.

In the 80s he was, but careerwise he's not one of the elites or greats. He is barely in the good category. The truth the Wings may even have a new #19 soon. It's very possible they let Grigorenko wear the #19 if he makes the team.

I still prefer the Wings to sign Draper to a 1 year deal. He has a tendency to play good in contract years and not nearly as good in non-contract years.

Dude, now you're not even being suttle about it. You're absolutely trolling. Atleast usually you try to make it look like you actually believe the ignorance that comes out of your mouth. But now, it's pretty obvious you're just trying to get a rise out of people. You just blew you're cover buddy. You basically just told us you troll on these boards. You slipped up today pal. Now 100% of the posters here know. Ahh that's great. Plus it's good to know that there arent actually people out there that think a man who is 6th all time in points scored is just "sorta good." So bro, get a life. And start posting what you actually believe. Cause trust me, you will eventually be banned. Just ask Jamie. That is, if Im not talking to Jamie right now.

If it is true that Yzerman is your favorite, then why are you putting him down so much? How can you say that he's barely even a good player? That's ridiculous.

The only reason Yzerman never won a scoring title is because he played during an era which featured Gretzky and Lemieux. Yzerman was still one of the best players in the league during that time.

I don't think he's your favorite player at all. Hell, I don't even think you are a Wings fan. Your plain stupidity is on par with what St. Louis Blues fan like to spout off about whenever they come here, so why don't you go post on their forums instead? I'm sure you'll get plenty of people to agree with you.

Well they let him wear the #19 in Grand Rapids, don't they usually wear the same number in GRs that they would wear in Detroit?

I guess if Mark Hartigan and Mark Cullen get called up, they'll both be wearing #13, since that's what they wore in training camp. We'll have 3 13's now!

"I'm a Red Wings fan and Yzerman is my favorite player, but he wasn't very good" ... come on, that's like a Catholic saying Jesus wasn't a very good savior ... give it a rest
