Filppula is still very much in the defensive mindset, and thats fine as long as he works his way into the offensive mindset gradually. Then all we need is a young veteran goal scorer and this team is a top contender without a doubt. I do think they need a proven scorer to help carry that 2nd line and elevate the play of Flip and Hudler. That guy sure ain't sammy. In all seriousness, though, I do think a veteran presence would be great. Outside of Dallas Drake, which isn't a good option, the Wings just don't really have anybody. I think Samuelsson is the best choice, and that's not saying much. That second line, though, is really going to be what makes or breaks this team. I think you just have to sort of employ a rotating door here for a while and just figure out what works. Or Darryl Bootland. There's always that. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I'm sure they'll get it though...they just need...umm...I don't know, really. Got any ideas? Whats stopping Chelios from centring a Hudler Filppula line? Nothing! I really think they need someone like that to guide those two young guys. Theyve got the tools, they just need somebody who knows how to bring them all together.
