Vincanni 1 Report post Posted October 19, 2007 God, how pathetic is it that I specifically looked on this forum for a thread about this fight, wanting to see it myself. This is just how starved us Wings fans are for this sort of thing. Do you think the message forum of any other team creates a separate thread for each fighting major acquired thus far? Correct you are. If the issue was addressed by management (Holland), there wouldn't be a need for every individual topic, you know.
Cheli24 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2007 The FSN Bay Area broadcasters made it sound as if McLaren won the scrap. Haha. Tools.
2probert4 8 Report post Posted October 20, 2007 The FSN Bay Area broadcasters made it sound as if McLaren won the scrap. Haha. Tools. Maybe he won the "First one to hit the ice" race... That was almost as bad as when Probert pummelled Stephanie Quintal in Boston and the B's announcers saying Quintal won.
Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted October 20, 2007 I can understand the SJ announcers doing that, McLaren did get a couple shots in and the fight was close. In a close fight the broadcasters are always going to lean towards their guy. On the flip side one could question how the Free Press would label this as a short one sided fight for Downey. Hardly the lopsided win they made it out to be. Alot of people just are incapable of putting homerism aside when it comes to judging fights.

Well, to be fair- it takes a very practised eye to judge a hockey fight. I love watching them, but since I've never been in a hockey fight nor have I been in any other sort of fight, I rarely trust my own evaluation of who won a fight. We see that on these boards alot too, and I hadn't even realized how poorly I'm able to judge a fight until I read an explanation that GordySid&Ted wrote this season about a fight.
