eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted October 25, 2007 Because his overall game is still decent, unlike the other two. Three Wings players have zero points. Filppula, Downey, and Franzen. Flipper plays almost as much in a single game as the other two have played all season. Every other Red Wing has at least one point; even guys like Drake, Osgood, Hasek, Lilja, and Chelios. And BTW...Filppula is also a -1 to Hudler's 0 and Kopecky's +4. Plus-minus is not the be-all end-all of defensive ability, but you can't really claim a guy is playing better than another when the 'other' guy is beating him in EVERY stat, and doing it in half the ice time. The fact that Filppula doesn't get criticized for his lack of offensive performance while Hudler and Kopecky do is ridiculous.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted October 26, 2007 The fact that Filppula doesn't get criticized for his lack of offensive performance while Hudler and Kopecky do is ridiculous. I have criticized Filppula plenty for his lack of scoring. He's missed 2-3 good quality scoring chances in a row now, and those came against Phoenix of all teams. I don't think Filppula has been as been as the other two, though, most noticably being Kopecky (as far as the rest of his game). You can say what you want about his +/- and Babcock giving him ice time, but the guy hasn't done s***. All he does is fall down. I could make a Wings drinking game with the amount of times he's fallen down this season, but if I did, I'd probably be dead of alcohol poisoning. As much as I'm not a Grigorenko fan, at this point, I'd much rather see him in the lineup over Kopecky.

Kopecky hasn't done much so far, he did setup the Ellis goal vs the Nucks by standing in Luongo's way and throw a few hits. I think they swapped him for Hudler on the second line and he recieved over 12 minutes (not sure exact minutes and seconds) but I guess they were pleased with his play.
