Except Ozzie was never pushed by anyone. He slide over to his RIGHT side where a BJ's player ALREADY was. It's not his fault he was standing 2 feet out of the crease. He isn't expected to move out of the way there once the goalie is already out of the crease. No one wants to admit that Ozzie f'd up, well he did, he shouldn't never went out to get that puck.

I think everybody realizes that. I'm pretty sure Puckloo is frustrating them. :) It's like a goalie war in here.

P.S.- Nothing against Loo.

Nobody said that Ozzie shouldn't have left the net, only that the traffic around the net, including the BJ player getting into Ozzie's personal space, also greatly affected the goal.

Again, it doesn't matter if Osgood was two feet out of the crease (which he wasn't). That was not incidental contact by the Columbus player. He was impeding Osgood's progress to get back into position. I heard Colin Campbell himself say on XM that if a goaltender's progress is impeded by an opposing player, even when just off the crease, and not giving the goaltender a fair chance to get back in position to make a save it is STILL goaltender interference.

Exactly.

I mean, they scored a goal. Isn't it fairly obvious that in hindsight, he should've played it differently?

but that doesn't mean there also wasn't interference.

I should hope not. I am not the one bashing a player when he's down. There are plenty of others who do that. If someone is frustrated because I am right, then that's different. :P

Edi, it happens all the time. They're not picking on Ozzie by not calling it.

yes, I'm not saying there was no contact made. Obviously there was. But I don't fault the BJ's player for just standing in his area before Osgood even gets there, especially when he's not in the crease, that's fair game. He can't anticipate that Osgood would come out of the crease that far and slide over into him when he's not looking towards the goalie.

My point is, is that if Ozzie hadn't left the net in the first place, he would've been back in the crease and BEHIND that BJ's player who he bumped in to, thus being able to slide to his right freely and possibly make that save.

But whatever, they scored, it's over, we can't go back in time. The game is tied at 3 and we need to get the next goal here.

And this is why Ken Holland NEEDS to sign Hiro Nakamura. GET IT DONE, KENNY!

:P

I'm not as pissed that they didn't call it because it really impeded him making the save. It's the fact that if he had 96 on his jersey with "Holmstrom" on the back, that goal would have been waved off. Just check any of the first 3 or 4 interference penalties called on Homer at the start of the season.
