vangvace 12 Report post Posted December 4, 2007 I'm just trying to figure out who is it that the flyers seem to be the only ones being busted regularly.
Guest DetroitIan Report post Posted December 4, 2007 I guaruntee as soon as the Flyers organization gets hit with a big fine, they will put a stop to some of these dirty tactics.
Hollinger 0 Report post Posted December 4, 2007 I'd love knowing that my team is feared by other teams for their physical and sometimes dirty play. Absolutely. Not in the way of intentionally malicious, just enough "boo" factor to get the point across. EDIT: More Downey IMHO lmao,

Too bad the boo factor wont work on the Wild though, given they have their very own boo guard on duty.

VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted December 4, 2007 At this rate, at some point this year they'll play a game with only a handful of skaters allowed to skate at that time.
Doggy 130 Report post Posted December 4, 2007 Food for thought: If a team wins a stanely cup, and nobody cares enough to watch it, did the team really win? Yes.
vangvace 12 Report post Posted December 4, 2007 wow back to the old days of the broadstreet bullies...except this time they dont fight, just take cheapshots They're tied for first in fighting majors this year before last night.
Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted December 4, 2007 They're tied for first in fighting majors this year before last night. Exactly. I just hope they dont start dressing a soft lineup (minus Eager and Cote) because of this. Theyre doing well so far playing tough hockey...keep doin' what you're doin'. Eager is anxiously awaiting replacing Cote in the lineup next game. I heard Cote was really Riled up when he heard he had been suspended.

Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted December 4, 2007 (edited) Cote wasn't feeling as Downie as Steve, though. Its probably a good thing they dont still have Brashear, considering the racial tirade Mike Richards went on earlier this year. I heard he actually tried to post up a flier though in the lockeroom reminding the team to play clean, but unfortunately....the sign felled before last game. The sky is the limit for the Flyers this year. Edited December 4, 2007 by Lou_Siffer
Dabura 12,232 Report post Posted December 4, 2007 The sky is the limit for the Flyers this year. Hardly. Even without the cheapshots, that team has issues. No way could they take a team like the Sens in a best-of-seven.

I think the Flyers pun there flew right over your head But on a serious note, i think they could take the Sens. I'd be a little more worried about the Rangers personally. Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted December 4, 2007 so your saying that the Sens would have the Phil of the Flyers? You read my mind! I think going up against Gerber in the playoffs would be like taking candy from a baby.

Guest GordieSid&Ted Report post Posted December 4, 2007 Is it me or do all of the Flyers have the same answer when this comes up: "It was stupid and I didn't mean to hurt any one I just wanted to make a hard hit." Oh really well why in the hell is it that even though no one in the Flyers organization wants to hurt anyone, yet their version of hard physical hockey is the only version that leaves people in the ER with regularity. As Hully said yes it happens, it is part of the game, it is unfortunate, but when you play stupid and dirty you are ruining the game and taking out some of its best players. I'd take Randy Jones out of the following equation as he seems like a pretty decent guy. Now look at the following: Boulerice Downey Tootoo Nichol Cote Hartnell What do these guys have in common? Bad decision making and borderline dirty play. Was anyone really surprised to see Hartnell in the news? All he did was take his game from Nashville to Philly. Anybody surprised Nichol did what he did? He had the same reaction when Spacek took him hard to the net. Nichol has classic "small man syndrome" and he goes ape s*** whenever somebody lays a lick on him. Flyers fans and Preds fans always complain that the league is singling them out or there's a conspiracy to only call suspensions against those teams. Horse poop! You fill your roster with a bunch of dum dums like this and it is no coincidence that those 2 teams keep getting into trouble. I don't think the Flyers brass or coach are trying to play this way. I think it boils down to having players with low hockey IQ's and poor judgement. And when you have too many of them on one roster, the idiocy is infectious. Flip-check 6 Report post Posted December 5, 2007 (edited) Fifty bucks that the next Flyer suspension (there will be one), Bettman and the review board do jack. It looked like they were off to a good start this season, but it seems like it was just that--the appearance of playing tough with dirty plays. Not the consistent reality.
