That was just a bad choice of shot. of course they can, and will. I do wish some of those stellar chances had gone in in regulation and OT, but that's the way it goes. We missed Homer tonight, for sure.

BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted December 14, 2007 End of the win streak but at least one point for the tie. Wings just looked lethargic tonight, just a step slow, passes just a little off, etc. Not one of their better games.
commadore183 103 Report post Posted December 14, 2007 Dissapointed that we couldn't get a single goal in the shootout, but we'll have games like that in the future. Seriously, Zorro, a slapper? *shakes head* Well, at least it was something to catch Roloson off, too bad it failed
BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted December 14, 2007 Not sure why everyone is bagging on the slapshot by Z. You guys know the story about how Lemaire had a dream that Brian Rolston tried one in a shootout, and then Rolston (without being told about Lemaire's dream) actually went out that night and scored a shootout goal with a slapper, right? Rolston's scored quite a few shootout goals off slapshots.

Wings just looked lethargic tonight, just a step slow, passes just a little off, etc. Not one of their better games. The bolded is what's important to me. Points, no matter how early in the season, is vital. How many games have the Wings not had a point? Not too many, IIRC. Get these points early, then we won't have to worry about getting them late in the season if, by some cosmic force of suck, we're on the outside looking in (again, I hope that doesn't happen, but it doesn't hurt to have a bit of padding, just in case ) A point here, a point there, they all add up. There are still a semi load of games left, and anything can happen between now and the playoffs

Certainly not the reason the Wings lost tonight, though. The shootout is ******* stupid anyway.

I applaud him for trying something different other than "jockstrap for the trophy room" deke, but maybe he could have faked it or something. It was a nice try, though, that I'll admit. Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted December 14, 2007 (edited) There are still a semi load of games left, and anything can happen between now and the playoffs You act like the Wings are #10 in the conference or you want them to drop from #1 in the west to out of the playoff race. We're still #1 in the NHL by 4 points (including the Sen's win tonight) and #1 in the west by 10 (well, it's going to be either 8 or 9 by the end of tonight, but that is still a LOT). commadore183 103 Report post Posted December 14, 2007 You act like the Wings are #10 in the conference or you want them to drop from #1 in the west to out of the palyoff race. We're still #1 in the NHL by 4 points (including the Sen's win tonight) and #1 in the west by 10. I'm not saying that we're gonna drop from the top or are going to be on the outside looking in. All I'm say is that there's plenty of time for the Wings to improve. Maybe Huddles and Flipper will start scoring regularly. Or that Sammy will shoot the puck AT the net or start scoring. Or Kronwall can go several weeks without an injury. Heck, Lillypads' been improving (though, he does occasionally return to his bad self once in a while). If you got that I'm thinking lowly of the Wings, then I apologize for not making that clear enough. Either way, I'm pretty optimistic that the Wings will carry on through the playoffs
