wingnut40 176 Report post Posted December 31, 2007 Hey, good article. It shows how deep our roster is and that we can win with out top players. Although, I think our recent wins have already shown that.
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted December 31, 2007 That was a good read about Flip. I'm glad he's finally playing like some expected him to before the season. Once again, though, there was something in there about Drake mentoring Kopecky, and I hope by now Kopecky realizes that he should get his mentoring from someone who's actually contributing to the team. grsbmd 0 Report post Posted December 31, 2007 While watching the NASN feed of the Phoenix game, they showed an interesting statistic during the commercials. Filppula is the third highest scoring Finn in the league. By my count he finished last season around 15th or 16th, so he's really improved this season. Most finnish players are stuck in defensive roles in their teams, doesnt matter if they have offensive skills or not. Case in point, Ville Nieminen, the guy has above average scoring skills but hes stuck on the 4th line roles. Most finns are really good defensively, but not many shine offfensively. I presume that if Ville Nieminen or Niinimaa were swedes, they'd still be in NHL, for gods sake Anders fkin Ericsson is still in the league and he really sucks and blows at the same time!!! gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted January 1, 2008 I really enjoyed that. Great to see Flip getting the credit he deserves. He's really stepped up this year and made a big impact. Can't imagine it doing anything but getting better from here. I predict a great playoffs from him. Honestly, I think he'll be just a hair behind Dats and Zetts in scoring and impact down the stretch in the playoffs. Call it a hunch.
Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted January 3, 2008 Finally got around to reading it and it was a great read. "He tells me to be comfortable and confident. Enjoy myself," Filppula said of his time on the ice and off the ice watching movies like The Usual Suspects, the Die Hard series and James Bond action flicks, plus listening to his favorite Metallica songs, playing tennis or working on his golf game. He's got great taste in movies! Flip is +14 this season, that's 4th on the team. He really is an all-round player and it's going to be fun watching him for many years.
