Actually... if the Wings brought there A game ALL game against the sens (not the last 10 minutes or so) then we would have hurt the sens pretty bad. Think about it... the Wings played pretty bad those first 2 periods (gave up way too many pucks, didn't win many puck battles, passing was off, even shooting was off) in which the sens capitalized on with 2 goals. But then 3rd period, for the last 10 min, the wings finally played good, and got 2 nice goals to tie the game up. Now, if the wings played like that all game... I think we'd have hurt the sens pretty bad (though we did hurt Heatly). All in all, this is going to be a big wake up call to the wings and they will play very good puck control on tuesday, and the WHOLE team will play for an ENTIRE 60 min with their A game. If this game showed me one thing... it is that Dom is the goalie we need in playoffs because his saves tonight were just spectacular and he is the only reason we were actually able to tie it up... so good game Dom...

your post is dead on. The Wings were just ... dead.

I said after the mess with the Wild on Thursday, that they would surely come out swinging v.s the Sens. I was wrong. So I will say now that they will come out hard v. the Thrash. Third time's hopefully the charm on that prediction.

Dom kept them (and himself) from posting a total embarrassment last night.

Welcome to the forum, come by more often, wings_fanatic!

For those who want to read up on the oppositions' take:

Ottawa press is happy, but not overly so, about the win. They credit the Wings with their own demise, for providing screens on Hasek and taking penalties which resulted in goals.

Ottawa media on the Wings and Sens

"Wings D Nicklas Lidstrom doesn't pull your eyes out with his speed like Scott Niedermayer does, or rile the emotions in the manner of Chris Pronger, his annual rivals for the Norris Trophy. He just does everything so well."

They have other takes on Wings and Sens that are very astute and mostly complimentary.

It's really to bad that the Wings didn't show up to the "most important game" as some people have labelled it.. I give credit to the Sens, they played one heck of a game. IMO though if the Wings played there best game I think the results are different in the end.. But glad to see us battle back and Hasek was our best wing

It was, actually.

The hit numbers were equal, but the Sens were definitely getting more quality for their buck. Our guys didn't even initiate to begin so their checks were basically "returning the favor" - Ottawa definitely outplayed us on the body.

Yep, thats why i hate the hit stat...theres nothing more misleading than that. A little love tap into the glass counts the same as a guy getting steamrolled. It was clearly obvious Ottawa won the physical battle.

I really hope Babs says something to the guys about their clearing efforts on the power player. Last night TWICE was the attempt made to clear the puck in a row in the sen's first PP and failed which allowed for the goal. This has happened before and led to goals.

I honestly think the delay of game penalty has really hurt our ability to clear pucks on the PK. That would explain their apprehension to really lift it up and send it out; instead, they're trying to clear it on the ice and the opposition can block that easily.

Nah I don't mean clearing it on the ice and getting it blocked, I mean fanning completely and not even moving the puck. Check out the game highlights and right in the beginning you see clearing completely missing the puck and it gets to Alfie and he scores. That happened right before in the same PP ont he other side of the ice. TWICE we completely missed the puck, TWICE we could have completely avoided that goal. This has happened before this year on the PK and it ended up in a goal.
