Nev 1,085 Report post Posted January 14, 2008 I'd really like to see the big line reunited. Cause it felt sooo good! Z-D-H Huds-Flip-Franzen Clears-Draps-Malts Drake-Kopy-...Downey Let sammy sit for a little while. I like the guy, but I'm all about "the what have you done for me lately" school of thought. I guess you could argue you might sit Kopecky, but I believe he tends to try and play to the level of his line mates. Downey and Drake, yes Drake, both scream intensity. I think it would serve him well. If it doesn't work, sammy is substituted in. My thoughts exactly
skacore 2 Report post Posted January 14, 2008 I honestly like the idea of Franzen movin up to play with z and huds. But I'd really like to see the big line reunited. Cause it felt sooo good! I have faith that Kopecky will work out as well, when he was with the Griffins, his physical play and grinding game really evolved when he was on a line with Darryl Bootland and Ryan Barnes as his wingers. I can't really decide who should "sit" because that won't happen, but Drake or Maltby would have to be the guy who would (Maltby). Franzen/Samuelsson will never sit, but I'd like to see one of them moved in the near future to free up a spot upfront
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted January 14, 2008 I'll be the first to admit that I want Maltby to stay in the lineup because he's Kirk Matlby, and he's been here a long time. I'd dress Downey every game, and would probably sit Kopecky, because Drake has played better lately.
Elshupacabra 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2008 Yes, He seems to add a real energy when he is out there, even if he isn't fighting. He's always finishing his checks and isn't afraid to stand up to anybody. I would sit Kopecky, he dosen't do...anything, at least Sammy shoots it everytime he gets the puck. Thats better than Kopy never getting the puck at all and instead throwing a hit, that he usually misses.
N4C3R 0 Report post Posted January 14, 2008 Kopecky out, Downey in, Franzen to Center. Agreed there. Franzen plays better at center, and Kopecky has not done enough to earn the spot over Downey.
Reds4Life 51 Report post Posted January 14, 2008 Yep, Kopecky should not play more than Downey.
haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted January 14, 2008 (edited) Agreed there. Franzen plays better at center, and Kopecky has not done enough to earn the spot over Downey. 3 goals, 3 assists, +1, he's pretty responsible defensively and he's 25 years old. I really like Downey in his limited role, but playing him every game, especially giving him Kopecky's minutes (he averages almost 9 minutes a game) would be a mistake. His liabilities would be exposed. And playing him in place of Sammy or Maltby is ridiculous. He looks good now because of the limited role Babcock has him playing. I think he could be in the lineup a little more often, but overall he's being utilized well. EDIT: spelling Edited January 14, 2008 by haroldsnepsts
