Vinny Prospal

I really believe this guy could bring in some nice scoring to our 2nd line. He would only cost the Wings $900K so I bet we could get him for a mid-level prospect and a late draft pick, possibly even just a draft pick. He is on pace for 35 goals and also has some grit to him as well.

Flip - Dats - Homer

Prospal - Z - Cleary

What do you guys and gals think?

Richards is overpaid, he is not coming to Detroit for sure. Boyle would be good addition though. But I would like to get Antropov from the Leafs, he's big, can hit and score he would look great on our team.

I'd pass on both of those. Prospal's playoff stats are mediocre and I can't see the Leafs giving up one of their only youngish talents.

Here are some guys who are available.

Saying that, I hope the Wings don't mess with a good thing here. A lot of these trades are going to demand Filpulla/Hudler-like return. If I a was Ken Holland, I don't mess with my 1st and 2nd lines at this point. The deadline should be about acquiring depth - not significantly changing your line-up. Thats why I fear a Sundin or Hossa trade.

Call me crazy, but doing something like adding Forseberg is a reasonable idea if he is healthy - he comes at no loss to the team except dollars.

the leafs have invested like 7 years or something in antropov and he is just now performing for them. he is one of the only good things the leafs have going for them at this point in time and he seems like a good deal at 2 million. it is now looking possible that the leafs may let ferguson go so if the wings want to take advantage of an idiot like ferguson they should do it quickly.

Prospal's best hockey always seems to be in TB. I believe he spent a season or two in Anaheim (that could be wrong) and didn't put up great numbers. While he's contributing a lot this season, there is a reason why he makes less than 1mil - he just isn't the greatest hockey player. That being said, for what he makes, I would take him here if they traded him up for nothing.

Antropov is another story. He's young and big, which is why Toronto has always held onto him. But he's extremely injury prone, and if I remember right, he's making over 2mil a season. His stats are better than ever in his career, but I believe these are misleading. He had a great start to the season, but lately he's looked about as impressive as most other leafs (which is not very much so). Antropov also benefited from playing with Sundin. I do not know what kind of linemates Prospal has had, but Antropov is nothing without skilled guys to play with. I would be grossly opposed to giving anything up for Nik, or for giving him a paycheck.

Out of those guys on the TSN article, Campbell is intriguing, although I can't say I know much about his play, or how much it would take to get a hold of him. Hossa, obviously, would be quite an exciting player to bring in...and Forsberg, the same goes.

propal's a good hockey player. he's been playing along side some wicked talent lately, though. i mean, putting him along side our top guys, he would probably do well, too. but i think that prospal right now is a guy who is made better by the guys around him, not a guy who makes the others around him better. put him on a line with, say, flip and cleary and you're going to see the production drop for all three of them.

i was thinking, though, if you put him on a line with z and dats...they're all centers, and we could run the I-formation. just take one shot after another and hope for big rebounds. thoughts?
