Zion 93 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 Are you even a Wings fan? I know that when I go to Wings games I don't go for the music they play, I go to watch the Wings play. I'm going to assume that you will never bo going back to the Joe for a game since they really don't change the music. I know I would happily leave Iraq right now to be able to watch the wings play live. First, thank you for your service. I transferred a year ago from a ship (on my 3rd deployment) to a reserve center, and we are still sending people to Iraq, Afghanistan, Africa, you name it. Second, you are exactly right... and anyone complaining about the music should just not go to the Joe. I'll be going to three games next month, and I couldn't be MORE excited. I'll be the guy happily stomping and chanting "Let's Go Wings!" to the familiar organ music.

Christ, we've just had enough of the whatever crap pop music is big, and the same old standby's. Obviously we're gonna continue to go to the Joe, bad music or not. BeeRYCE 2 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 I find everything good, except when they always play "Paralized" by Finger Eleven. That song sucks.
HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 Like this classic? I LOVE that song. It goes good with hockey/wings. LOL

That song is one of the few that have lasted the test of time with me. Ive heard it a million times and still really like it, thats a rarity for me.
Sergeiwasmyfav 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 I agree completely with whoever said that the songs they choose to play often relate to what is going on in the game, and I really enjoy that. One of the best examples ever was during intermission at a game earlier this season when there was a fight in the crowd. It was actually a pretty good fight and both guys were throwing some hard punches. Security had to come down to break it up, the guys were escorted out, then they had to bring a mop down to clean up the mess. What starts playing while all this is going on? "Ain't that America" or whatever the song is called but one of the lyrics that is repeated over and over is "ain't that America." I was cracking up; it was perfect, and I do not think the timing of when it was played is a coincidence. There are a lot of other examples as well when I think the DJ does a really good job of referencing the game in his selection of songs. So I disagree with a lot of you about this issue; I think the DJ at the Joe is actually pretty good.
Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 Yeah its not perfect, but its not meant to be an ipod for you. It is way better then BBall or FBall games where they won't shut up with the who let the dogs out. If you really want to complain, go to Nashville and listen to that crap they play. *shuttters*
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 My main issue stems from using the played out crap like the Hey Hey Hockeytown song. Or when they'll use the "Smokin'!" line from Mask...I mean seriously...Mask?!! Its 2008 last i checked. "Yeah baby!" is another one from Austin Powers....how lame. Update your material please (or at least expand it greatly if you're going to go old school) Agreed. Of all the songs he plays over and over, "Hey Hey Hockeytown" is the worst of them all. Do you also notice that, not only does he play it after the Wings score, but he also plays it during every commercial break? I mean, come on. Why the f*** would anyone play the same song that many times in the same game? The Wings DJ isn't terrible, but he could be better. If he stops playing "Hey Hey Hockeytown", and along with some other stuff I don't really care for, I'd like him better.

Really...if they want a Hockeytown song like that, come up with a new one for christ's sake! How long have they been playing that now? 10 years?
Zion 93 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 Again, tradition... something none of you appreciate. Go watch Columbus or Nashville or Atlanta, and appreciate an expansion team.
LeftWinger 5,149 Report post Posted February 2, 2008 ...not only does the music/multimedia entertainment suck, but I am am tired of Bud Lynch. God bless him and here's a hearty :beerbuddy: to his Hall of Fame career, but it's time to go. This is not the same old Red Wings. Long gone is the Steve Yzerman era. This is the fast paced Zetterberg era and we need a multimedia and P.A. annoucer who reflects the changing game... ...you are never gonna get rid of older music, and rightly so, some 80's and early 90's music can hang with (or put to shame) most of the music coming out now-a-days. I have always been partial to them playing "Welcome To The Jungle" when the Wings come on to the ice for warm-ups. I would also love to hear Ministry's extended version of N.W.O during warm-ups... Zion 93 Report post Posted February 3, 2008 Wow, never thought I'd hear a "New World Order" request again! That was our team's theme (the Nuclear Postmen, best hockey team name ever). Now that is classic! Being Motown, I was always a fan of oldies being played. How times have changed.
JonnyKazoo 0 Report post Posted February 3, 2008 Last time I checked the DJ at the Joe is " Tunes by T " You should be able to look them up on the web and you can call their number, not that you'll get your one vote to change things. Good luck!
union drone 0 Report post Posted February 3, 2008 (edited) Like this classic? Haha!! Thanks for the vid! That's central Helsinki in the backdrop of the vid...the white dome church with the steps in front is probably Helsinki's most famous landmark...brings back memories. I used to walk past that church at least twice a week for years! Edit: now I live in Metro Detroit. At least I get to see more wings games. Spinner 6 Report post Posted February 3, 2008 I like when they play, There must be some misunderstaning when the wings get penalized, but other than that I could really care less. I'm there to watch the game, the music is just a bonus
