RedWingAbner 13 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 Hi guys, I've recently returned to the States from Australia. I have relocated from DET to Tampa Bay and have purchased NHL Centre Ice. My question is this--to veteran subscribers-- how many of the Wings playoff games do you get? What happens if a game is on NBC but there is a closer market game on-- do they show the Wings on centre ice? Thanks Redwingabner
StayStevieStay 0 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 I live in Canada and almost every playoff Wings game was on regular cable last year, all except for one game in the first round. So that was the only game i really needed Centre ice for, I don't know how american cable works so yea.....
wingslogo19 281 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 I thought that centre ice wasn't going to be showing the playoffs?
OsGOD 3 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 like they all said... Centre Ice is null and void in the playoffs... which is why they lower the price the closer to April and not raise it for the impending playoff season.
wingslogo19 281 Report post Posted February 6, 2008 Just some games in the 1st round (mostly non-Detroit)...Since Detroit is arguably the most popular team here in the States both VERSUS, & NBC have dibs to broadcast the games. Ok thanks Michael for clearing that up
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted February 7, 2008 As has been stated, we are fortunate that the Wings are one of the most popular teams in the league, hence not really having to worry about missing them if they weren't on Versus or NBC. NHL Center Ice though, correct me if I am wrong, broadcasts games on local affiliates (assuming they aren't on NBC or Versus) through the 2nd round of the playoffs. Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted February 7, 2008 For the US, they'll be on VS. and NBC, and for Canada, it'll be CBC, NBC, and TSN. I think CI shows a couple playoff games of your choice, but that's only 1-2 games in the first round.
dirac 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2008 Center Ice does carry the first two round of the play offs. They will not show games that are either a national feed (Vs., NBC) or local which being in Tampa, you should have no fears of. I have it and love it. I live and die by the Wings but it is great to watch all the other games and have double headers ever night. For a true hockey fan it is quite the blessing. Bonus if you have direct TV b/c if I am not mistaken, if the game is broadcast from the local affiliate in HD, you get it in HD unlike COMCAST!!!
