Malarchuk Espn Interview

I know a lot of us were wondering about Malarchuk--ESPN just posted this about all the repercussions he's had mentally with his injury and how the Zednik thing has made him relive his incident.

Wow, I guess when he came right back I always thought (and was highly impressed) he was completely over it. Even if it was just mental side affects (lack of better term) I was never sure how he could just jump right back in 2 weeks later.

Watching Zednik go limp when he got off the ice, scared me into thinking he might have been dead. Luckily he wasn't/isn't and he should make a full physical recovery.

But I, like Clint, worry about a guy like Jokinen he seemed ok when interviewed after the game, but what happens next time he gets up ended. Is he looking behind him instead of watching his landing. Can he play full out.

I mean obviously there was 0 intent to hurt anyone. But he can't help but feel guilty and some responsibility (even though he is 100% not at fault here), human nature makes you feel bad about this.

Everyone involved I feel sorry for.

I thought Jokinen seemed anything rather than ok. He looked dazed and then about ready to kill the reporter who asked him how scared he was.

The thing is, all youth hockey players have to wear neck guards, its mandatory. It doesn't do a damn thing to your play at all but if a blade were to come up, it would save you. As a hockey player, I've gotta tell you, I've had a blade narrowly miss me in the face/neck a few times but never thought much of it. After this though, I'm glad I had to wear those neck guards.

That's not true. They should be but they are not mandatory.

What a dumbass the reporter is for asking Olli what he thought of the incident. He was PISSED.

Also, this was kind of creepy foreshadowing of events, but the day before this happened to Zednik I read this ARTICLE about a similiar event that happened to a college hockey player. Looks like this kind of thing unfortauntely happens more often then I thought.
