dallas27 7 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 Like it or not, it's not Dom's fault (damn him for sitting out injured, what is he thinking!?!?) Like it or not? That doesn't even make any sense, he's not playing. What is he thinking? He knows he is going to be the playoff starter. He sees how poorly the team is playing. He's probably thinking he's going to ride the bench untill they play better. He's been around the block a few times, he's a smart man.
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 I think Dom might have had a couple of those last night, yes. If you watched the last game he played vs the Wild, you might agree. When the team sucks, the goalie has to be the best player out there. We still would have lost this game because the Wings are not scoring, though. One goal per game demands a shut out from the Wings goalie, and that's not all that common, unless your goalie is LeClaire... Ozzie is not getting ripped on, that I can see, he's being excused and the team is being ripped for the losses, and for the most part, rightfully so. There is no real dispute about being pulled twice in as many games, poor team effort or not. Some of the responsibily is on the goalie, whether it's Dom or Ozzie. I am sure Ozzie feels terrible right now, and I am sorry for that. Like it or not, it's not Dom's fault (damn him for sitting out injured, what is he thinking!?!?) that the team is not winning right now, or mine. You need to call Hasek and tell him that we need him back? His behavior is just getting ridiculous.
Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 (edited) One of the points puckloo is making is 100% correct. If Hasek was in net (Be careful, i'm NOT about to compare performances) for these losses, he'd have an assassination planed for him right now. With Osgood, he's let off and it's the team's effort that the loss is because of. This is a pure fact. We saw it during the Leafs/Quacks weekend. What relevance does this have? None. But I like to point it out anyway. Edited February 16, 2008 by Z and D for the C
gcom007 1,465 Report post Posted February 16, 2008 It's not all the goalies' fault during the five-game slump. Still Osgood hasn't been the same since before the All-Star Game. If I was Babcock I would start Howard Sunday. That will be another tough game. Dallas beat the Ducks, 4-2 last night. It's been a tough February for the Wings, and like I posted the other day, it won't get any easier either - Avalanche Monday then the Western Canada swing which historically has been tough on the Wings. No he has not. I'm starting to wonder if there's something going on we don't know about. He hasn't gotten any help, but he didn't get a lot of help numerous times earlier in the season and still played a lot better.
J-Swift 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2008 People need to realise Kronwall’s injuries are not bad luck, he is INJURY PRONE. Nothing will change; he’ll always be this way. Some sportspeople are like this, and he’s definitely one of them. He’ll be retired by the time he’s 32 the way he’s going, and what tends to happen to people who suffer a lot of injuries is that they reach their peak early and the decline sets in a lot quicker than to others. Fedorov isn't actually the picture of perfect health these days either. He's missed as many games as Kronwall has this season. If Kronwall retired at the age of 32, he'd still be around a good deal longer than Fedorov would be if we picked him up. Not to mention the fact that dealing Kronwall would give us a bottom four of Lilja, Chelios, Lebda, and Meech. None of those guys are anything more than third pairing defenceman. Personally I wouldn't even consider Meech an NHL player, and the same thing could be said about Lebda the way he's looked lately. And if the asking price for Fedorov these days is Niklas Kronwall, Columbus is dillusional.
