2/15 GDT: Blue Jackets 5, Red Wings 1

most of the team looks pretty useless to me right now. what's infinitely worse is none of them seem to care. down 5-1 in the third and they're still consistently being outworked. beaten to just about every loose puck, losing battles along the boards. that more than anything is inexcusable. this team is the polar opposite of what it was the first half of the season. i just don't understand it. how can you go from such a hard working machine to basically rolling over and playing dead. i'm sure they'll get it back together before long, but these games are brutal.

I agree that the most frustating part about the skid is that they don't seem to be giving it their all. However, you'd think that they'd come out flying because they are the ******* Detroit Red Wings and they are on a 4 game skid. So that fact that late in a 5-1 game they they are still being outworked doesn't surprise me. The fact is they didn't show up to play tonite. Period. Plain and simple.

Anyone watching the post game show??

There's ******* rioting or something going on in the background!! lmao

report, please. Those of us with Center Ice never get pre- or post-game. That's the only thing I like about Versus... extra coverage.

You know what's really frosting my nipples? Pierre Maguire (TSN) made an in-game comment saying "this team isn't as good as their record indicates" and they keep re-airing this comment during the highlights. Give me a break asshats!!1 It's called top-of-the-league-itis. This Dallas game will be totally different now that Cheli layed into the boys.

What the hell? He seriously said that? When the Wings play and are on their game, they are by far the BEST team in the league bar none over anyone else. Makes sense though everyone likes to get on the Wings asses.

are you serious? I love it when people pile on, even if the weakness is just a glitch in our case. Sad. I hate most hockey writers and announcers, anyway.

Your from Windsor, so I assume that you see your fair share of TSN. You should no never to listen to anything that Pierre says...ever. Simple as that.

I just love it how the stick him between the benches and he just thinks he's so damn special because he's down there. I equate it to when your like 10 and your going with all of your little friends to one of your friend's birthday parties, and the kid that you don't like gets thrown in shotgun because no one wants to talk to him, but you convince him that he's up there because he's special. That is exactly what it's like.

I couldn't really tell what the heck was going on, but Mickey York & Murph were on the little balcony above the concourse and people below them were screaming & chanting and it sounded like people were getting bludgeoned or something!

Some of these "hockey guys" are just totally ridiculous. Why does it seem that the hockey media in general is always praising teams like Anaheim and San Jose, and jumping on the Wings (only when they are losing of course)! Anaheim could lose 5 in a row, and I GUARANTEE there wouldn't be near as much negative talk as there is with the Wings. Besides us fans, everyone seems to want them to fail.

Yeah, this game alone pretty much convinved Pierre Maguire that Columbus is a serious threat to win the West and that Detroit will struggle to get out of the first round.

I like Pierre (seems like I'm one of the few), but he was being a bit dramatic tonight. Wasn't a fun game to watch from our perspective. Ozzie must feel horrible getting pulled again, not that it was his fault. On the bright side, Howard looks good. It's been awhile since I've felt this bad after a regular season game.

LOL I thought the same thing about the post game show. I was like WTF is going on down there. I wasnt even looking at Mickey and Murph, I was looking in the background the whole time. Funny I was not the only one who noticed.

I figured it out!

We all knw the Wings do best when they are the underdog, right?

So they're blowing the lead so the cursed media stops going down on them nightly.

But yeah, the media is a little ridiculous. They are very much a "bandwagon".

It's true, The wings are only getting their points from a weak conference outside their division.

Ohh okay. So last year the arguement was that the Wings were in a weak division which led to them being #1 in the NHL, and this year it's that the conference is weak? I get it!

Except not really. The things that are posted here sometimes.. my goodness.

There was a terrific point just brought up......Red Wings fans can't let go of past teams. How everyone wants players back from the 97/98 teams like Segei, D-Mac, Shanny, that whole group. Ppl don't talk about Hank and Dats because they're still thinking about the Wings past teams.

Also, if Feds left because of being in Stevie's shadow, if he came back here and won the Cup, that would give him 4 Cups to Stevie's 3. Another interesting point.

Jesus ******* Christ....I didn't watch the game tonight, doesn't look like I missed s***.

we've lost to Toronto, Nashville, and now COLUMBUS??!?!?!

Even if it is 5 games and we're still miles ahead of the rest of the NHL, I AM DAMN TIRED OF SEEING A PISS-POOR EFFORT OUT THERE.

I am not buying any little caesar's until we win one...and the nearest little caesar's is 50 MILES AWAY in Harrison AR.

Not to mention stringing ozzie out for these losses...I think it'll be a welcome change of pace to have Quincey up to the big club...Might as well trade places with GR if we're gonna suck it up....imagine Z-D-H in Grand Rapids???

They need to seriously start juggling. Enough with trying to ride out the storm. No doubt we will emerge from this, and we're still favorites for the Cup, but while we're struggling, might as well try some fall back plans, yes?

Throw some new lines together, bring Quincey up more, change the defensive pairings up. Apparently let Howard start some games because Ozzie and Hasek are in terrible funks.

It's frustrating as hell, but let's not be fairweather fans. A 5 game losing streak is not the end, other teams have had worse. It's just the worst for the Wings THIS season. And guess what? In reality a 5 game losing streak is only two games longer than three.

We'll be okay. Let them get their stuff worked out. Don't overreact and trade the whole team. Experiment with the Griffins players. Bring up Quincey and McCarty (eventually).

We do need some additions (and I'm shocked to admit that getting Federov is the most realistic option). Then, try to sign a cheap depth forward. We are okay on defense, at least, we're not going to get any better except with the addition of Foote or Stuart. So, realistically we're in good shape, we just need a few tweaks is all.

I am sorry, but Hasek is in no "funk". Hasek has not hada bad game since November, as he has not costed the Wings a game at all since his return in December. So, no facts before you say false things. Now, Ozzie has not been playing good, say what you want, but he did not control rebounds good tonight at all, and that costed him some goals.

Now, the team in general had their worst game of the year, and I do not know about you guys, but I felt the only, ONLY time they looked good was when datsyuks line was on the ice... Every other line was struggling... they just did not seem to have chemestry at all. On sunday's game, I really hope dats and Z and homer go back together bacasue they are the best line in the NHL. I liked the lines against the Ducks last week, Id go right back to that... and let the players get their chemestry back with their line and they will start producing again....

Anways not a good game... but this is the last game of the losing streak... a road trip will be the perfect solution... watch
