kylee 727 Report post Posted February 18, 2008 i know for a fact you said you're for fedorov when someone made a comment you agreed with. it's in one of the fedorov threads. make up your mind!! haha i know! i admit that for a bit i was for Fedorov coming back. it might be the losing streak biting at me, or whatever, but when i really sit down and think about it all, there's no legit reason to think Fedorov coming back to Detroit would make him perform better. the truth of the matter is that since he's left detroit, all of his numbers have been down (save the 03 - 04 season where he scored 65 points) this team needs a tough grinding player like Danny Cleary to make a serious playoff run for the Cup. Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted February 18, 2008 Sammy has 9-22-31, +13 in 57 games. Fedorov has 8-19-27, -4 in 47 games. Major differences? Fedorov has been used in a more defensive role with players generally lacking offensive talent. Samuelsson has been used in an almost exclusively offensive role with linemates whose offensive talent exceeds his own. And Fedorov still has a better GPG, APG, and PPG. So Fedorov is posting better numbers with no help, while playing better defensive hockey than Sammy. No matter how you want to analyze his numbers, they aren't impressive, and they definitely aren't the make-or-break x factor the Wings are missing. I don't want to get into a Feds/Sammy comparison because I made it simply to emphasize my point that Fedorov is useless. We need someone who has proven this year, not 5 years ago, that he can score, and is a player that we can rely on in the playoffs. Fedorov is not that player. He was half a decade ago, but he isn't now.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted February 18, 2008 I'll take an older wahed up Fedorov over Samuelson. Sorry, but Sammy is terrible, Feds can at the very least play defence.
dallas27 7 Report post Posted February 18, 2008 (edited) Please no Fedorov. Seriously, what can he possibly do that Sammy (oh god) can't? I can assure you that Feds would not have coughed up the puck on the blue line with seconds to go in the game today like Sammy did. Put Feds back on the point on the PP and watch him rack up goals. Should probably get Hossa too. Edited February 18, 2008 by dallas27
DenJ91 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2008 why do all the fedorov bashers have to directly relate his play to his offensive numbers?? we all know they aren't there anymore, but let's face it, he's on honestly the worst team i've ever watched and i watch just about every jackets game. they are pathetic. big deal they are in the playoff race, so is another 27 teams. if he were on an offensive team like the wings, penquins, etc his numbers would be better and most of you bashers wouldn't be bashing him at all. the wings do need secondary scoring and i really think by being on a new team or his old team in this case would spark him offensively. he's WAAAY to worried about playing defensively on the jackets. tonight for example, he passed up so many chances to shoot to pass it, then goes and skates behind the jacket defenseman as if he's gonna take his spot back there. he wouldn't be a -4 on the wings either, so don't use that against him. The whole point of the Sammy/Feds comparison was to emphasize my point that I think Fedorov is useless (as Samuelson is also useless. Look around other threads, I bash him as much as anyone). This isn't a "who would you prefer" thing, this is a "neither are good, lets keep both of them far away from the Wings' playoff mission" thing. Besides, if you want defense, why not trade for a defensman? why do all the fedorov bashers have to directly relate his play to his offensive numbers?? we all know they aren't there anymore, but let's face it, he's on honestly the worst team i've ever watched and i watch just about every jackets game. they are pathetic. big deal they are in the playoff race, so is another 27 teams. if he were on an offensive team like the wings, penquins, etc his numbers would be better and most of you bashers wouldn't be bashing him at all. the wings do need secondary scoring and i really think by being on a new team or his old team in this case would spark him offensively. he's WAAAY to worried about playing defensively on the jackets. tonight for example, he passed up so many chances to shoot to pass it, then goes and skates behind the jacket defenseman as if he's gonna take his spot back there. he wouldn't be a -4 on the wings either, so don't use that against him. If anyone in the entire league were on a better team, their numbers would most likely be better. Thats such an objective argument it has no merit whatsoever. (Why not pick up Anson Carter? His numbers would be better on a high caliber team like the Wings.) So instead of picking up Fedorov, why not get someone like Prospal, who plays for a way bad Tampa Bay Lightning, who, despite playing for a horrible team, is still producing constant offense. Deal. I would just rather prefer someone like Hossa, or if our future is an issue, someone like Prospal, who would be a bit cheaper.
kylee 727 Report post Posted February 18, 2008 if the rumor is true, and the Blue Jackets want a top prospect and a 1st rounder, why isnt that scaring so many of you away? isnt Feds 38?
