YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Toronto should be the one robbing blind whatever team wants Kaberle. Im thinking the likes of San Jose, Chicago, and Carolina would/should pay up for that. Kaberles probably got the best contract for a defenseman of his calibre in this entire league. Good age, great player, even better contract. Toronto should trade him and land something big.
2probert4 8 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Is there actually any legitimate interest in Sammy from other teams if we do make a trade? Sure to one of the peewee teams the Wings invite to each home game...He might be able to score on their goalies.
2probert4 8 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Havlat's shoulder is too fragile, San Jose won't trade with a potential playoff opponent, and Kaberle's price would be too high. Kaberle is rumored to Philly....

I'm thinking that with the reported 15 teams into the Kaberle bidding, it will be a huge return for him, whether it be now or in the summer.

imisssergei 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 (edited) I'm surprised that Marleau would really draw much attention. Despite his output this season, he really isn't much of a scorer. Over the 9 previous seasons, he average 25 g and 30 a. Nothing stellar. He is pretty consistent with that output, but again, nothing really special. Those are number that Flip should put up. EDIT: For the record, Kaberle has a NTC. Edited February 19, 2008 by imisssergei

imisssergei 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Only until July 1st. Which means he won't be dealt until after the Cup is given out.
The_Cub 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 Might be willing to gamble on Havlat. When healthy he is ridiculous. Marleau signed that big contract and hasn't done crap since. Its not like he has a crappy coach. Don't know if a team change would wake him up or not. Until this year I've always really liked him. After the show Kaberle put on at the all star game the rumors have been flying, but why would the Leafs want to move him. He seems like the one guy on D they would really like to hang on to. Hank 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2008 I still can't get over how horrible Marleau has been this year. I gotta believe it has a lot to do with Ron Wilson pushing him under the bus last spring. I think this guy is going to explode with whatever team he gets traded to. He's still young and has a lot of great tools. But who knows? Maybe he goes the way of Falloon and Friesen as just another Shark who's star fizzled far too quickly.

I hope no team is stupid enough to go after him because of that.
