Feldmarschall 9 Report post Posted February 24, 2008 And Quincey showed he has an edge to his game, which is something I didn't see a lot of when he played in the post-season for us. Absolutely correct. I think it has a lot to do with his comfort level and the incessant pressure to never take penalties in the playoffs. He's a much better player with the physical element, that roughing call was complete bulls***. I hope Babs and Co. continue to build on that part of his game. He looks very competent in his own zone, and it's only a matter of time before his decision-making skills hit the NHL level. I think he'll eventually surpass Lilja in terms of overall skill and physicality.
datsyukismyfriend 4 Report post Posted February 24, 2008 Anyone catch Holland's comments after the game? I could be totally reaching, but his remarks and more importantly, his body language seemed to hint that we're getting Hossa. Now, I wonder what secondary players we'll get? Salei and Federov would be nice, but how likely are they? why? what did he say?
Guest Canadian Wings Report post Posted February 24, 2008 I'm sorry but to about 65% of this board if Ken Holland Sneezed it would mean we are getting Hossa... I think that the Hossa trade will go to the team with an offer that best helps the Thrashers stay in playoff contention, and Filppula is not that... true, but saying that atlanta lost tonight and is sinking as well. there going no where in the playoffs and filppula is hella cheap with alot of upside. they could use hossas money for someone else via free agency. He is dealing with helping his team in the long run while trying not to tell his fans Screw you Screw the playoffs I give up.
awingsincebirth 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2008 Yes and their is no guarantee that any of these players will be back at full capacity before the playoffs... in fact at our current rate of slippage its mathematically possible we wont mak ethe playoffs. I'm simply making the point that a player like Sundin maybe more likely to go to another top team without the issues the wings currently have. To me that is kind of a weak argument, because there is every reason to believe that all of these players will be back at full capacity. None of their injuries were really that serious as to make you think that it will effect them long term. Any play on any team can get injured at any time, and it just so happened that we had a bunch of players get injured at the same time. Any team could still miss the playoffs, and Sundin knows that whatever team he goes to, it is possible that they will become injury decimated, that's just a risk that you take. All he will do is compare all teams and the lineups that, at this time, they intend to ice for the playoffs. If that is the case, Detroit is right at the top of that list. Besides, I really don't think we'll makea serious play for Sundin, and I don't really think he is going anywhere anyways.

BUT Waddell will need to do something to prevent a bashing by the eniter city of Atlanta, and he also has said that if the offers can't help them this year it may not happen. So we'll see. awingsincebirth 0 Report post Posted February 24, 2008 Did he have a "were getting hossa" sign hanging off his body Actually, yes. It really was a bold wardrobe risk, and I don't really think it worked out.

It really was a bold wardrobe risk, and I don't really think it worked out. You Know what time it is... Hossa Hoss.... Where did your gold teeth come from Kenny.... I trust that Holland will do the right thing at deadline. If he can get Hossa for a reasonable price I think he will, I still don't think bringing in another 7 million dollar man is wise, but I'm not an NHL GM...but neither is anyone else here...so whatever Kenny does, I feel he will be making the best move for this year AND the future of the Red Wings...we'll have to wait and see what that turns out to be. Right at the moment this team is in shambles... we look worse than the Leafs. What player with any say would want to come into an uncertain situation when they have the choice of a surging team in Anaheim... Its a bery sound argument, and one I'm sad is a reality. juice71285 2 Report post Posted February 24, 2008 Its funny how a slump can make even the best of fans look bad. I am not happy that are team is losing but considering the fact that are defense have played a total of 159 games in the NHL this season (126 of those come from Lebda and Lilja alone) makes me think that things are certainly going to get a lot better. And to take this a step further Meech/Quincey/Ericsson/Stafford have a whopping 55 career NHL games under there belt (barely over half a season amongst the 4 of them). Kronwall will be back Tuesday, Rafalski and Chelios probably soon there after and Lidstrom a couple of weeks away. We will also probably pick a d-man at the trade deadline with a bit of NHL experience. It is getting a little depressing to see the offense lack as much as they do but were also talking missing our #3-5 point producers (Lidstrom, Rafalski, Cleary). Lets look at the rest of the roster. 1. Zetterberg still looks slow to me as if he is still hampered by some sort of injury (though he looked very strong in the Colorado game after Lidstrom went down and people went after Zetterberg afterwards). 2. Datsyuk is struggling I think because he is trying to do it all by himself now because of the lack of scoring now. 3. Holmstrom really is struggling in large because Zetterberg and Datsyuk are and the fact that his biggest point producers on the point are out. 4. Hudler is showing signs that he is still young and immature by the fact that he is letting the point slump get to his head (though from what I have seen of late he's been one of the harder working players of late). 5. Filppula has seem invisible to me of late, might be the same as Hudler's problem. 6. Franzen is the new Draper, shut down man of the other team's top players, hard to score when you have to try to keep the puck out of the net. 7. Maltby never was a strong scorer to begin with and now with less ice time its even harder to produce. 8. Draper is the same as Maltby, except for that one big season he had (I really feel Draper is playing his way out of Detroit taking many bad penalties and just not the same as before). 9.Downey bought here to protect our team and provide some character not to put points on the board. 10. Drake wasn't sure why Detroit picked him up at the beginning of the season and still not sure what he is here for. 11. Kopecky still young and really here to just be a depth guy. (Really believe he could be a poor-man's version of Cleary. Solid player in his own end that doesn't make many mistakes, and has shown from time to time, rarely I admit, that he may have some offensive upside to him. Needs confidence and minutes to show his true ability at this level). 12. Samuelsson was great 2 years ago but has fallen off now. Good things don't necessarily make up for the bad things he does. Willing to shoot and doesn't back down and stands up for players time to time. Way too many turnovers, seems lazy at times and not the most efficient player in his own zone. 13. Hartigan hasn't been seen enough, although his stats in AHL aren't too bad considering lack of offense down there. The one game I saw of him he had good speed but tough to tell if he would help are recent scoring slump.
