THN's Costello: Laperriere's hit on Lidstrom not dirty

The hit was perfectly fine, nothing dirty about it. Remember hockey is a contact sport.

Hit itself wasn't dirty at all and I don't blane Laperriere whatsoever for going for the hit as he plays a pretty rugged game obviously. I question whether he could've controlled his elbows better when hitting Lidstrom around the head. Ah well, it is in the past and Lidstrom should be back soon enough and no point in holding any grudges towards Lappy or whatever, it's over and done with.

While everyone is discussing the hit itself,has anyone questioned the timing?

Lidstrom was hit going to get the puck,he did NOT have the puck yet!

It wasn't dirty,but it was cheap,as it was clearly interference.Its hard to brace for a hit when you don't yet have the puck.

Watch the replay again,he had no intention of getting the puck,his intent was soley to hit (hurt?) Lidstrom,who was going for the puck,but did not yet touch it,

Yeah the hit was clean. But you still don't go after the other team's captain.

Uh...you can't expect to get away with hitting the captain of a team hard enough that he has to leave the game. Especially a guy like Lidstrom. Clean or not, no team should let that go, because it shows that teammates are willing to stand up for each other, and that there will be reprucussions to certain actions.
