datsyukismyfriend 4 Report post Posted March 1, 2008 I didn't think we were bad by any stretch. They had us running around in our own zone a couple times, but otherwise I thought we were decent. We had some good chances in the 3rd but Nabokov (and Vlasic on the one play) turned us aside. I think it was a game we could have easily won. Other than their goals, I don't really remember any great chances that the Sharks had. yeah, i guess the sharks didn't have much pressure, either. i'm just more concerned about how sloppy we looked. i'm not sure how many giveaways we had, i'll check, but it seemed like a lot. i also didn't think we skated as hard as the sharks and we got beaten to a lot of loose pucks. i thought our physicality was pretty good, though. i think having kronner back and getting stuart in there was part of that, but the team looked more physical than usual. even datsyuk tried to lay somebody out. anyway, not a terrible effot, but no urgency or desperation that you'd expect after winning one of their last ten. i'm just not sure what it will take for this team to go out on the ice and play balls to the wall. edicius 3,269 Report post Posted March 1, 2008 Wasn't there a goal against us recently that should have been called off but wasn't? In the Anaheim game when Getzlaf nailed Ozzie in the crease, stealing the puck from him, leading to a goal? And then in the very same game, Homer gets called for interference by not even touching Giguere? Yup.
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted March 1, 2008 Our so-called great goalies are overrated. They played great early in the season when the sun was shining, but lately they can't even steal one stinking game from the other team. Just two or three wins during this losing stretch would at least make things look a little decent. I know everyone is going to blame it on injuries, but I got the impression early in the season from reading everyone's posts that we had Jacques Plante and Terry Sawchuk in net for us instead of Hasek and Osgood, so don't make any excuses. awingsincebirth 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2008 (edited) I'm a positive guy, and I realize that we're not just losing games, but we're losing them with terrible injury problems and a few weak-ass calls. But....I just want to win a goddamn game!!!! This has had to be one of the worst months for any team in the league this year. I mean, like, bottom 3 maybe??? I can't say that I've ever been depressed, not even close really, but I think I'm startin to get that vibe. Okay...so f*** FEBRUARY. I never liked it anyways. If month's could talk, it would be like, "Hey *****, Christmas has been over for months, but I'm still cold. And, I'm ******* wierd cuz I'm shorter than all the other months." So ***. March is OUR month. There is no doubt in my mind that this team can turn it around on a dime. Let's make it happen. Let's go Wings! 55fan 5,133 Report post Posted March 1, 2008 (edited) At least this horrible, terrible month is over. March is knocking at our doorstep and with it the winds of change. Detroit will come in and go out like a lion. Ooh, this is Detroit. Bad analogy.* Hasek will come back in full force, not that I blame him for tonight: that was the refs, but he will be back stronger and better than ever. Kronner and Stuart will be joined by Lids, Cheli, and Raf, and we will have a better defense than that with which we started the year. With the D back and better than ever, the scoring will pick up. The Wings will rise again! It will happen! Have faith in our team! *(Don't flame me: I'm a hardcore Lions fan, but I feel I can joke about it here amongst Michigan people, unlike where I live in Vikings territory, where I have to hold up the Silver and Honolulu Blue with all my might.) Sometimes I'm such a Pollyanna Sunshine that I make myself gag. ETA: Wow, I go off to type a post and everyone and their dog also points out that it is now March. Great minds think alike! GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted March 1, 2008 I haven't watched the last several games, but I've noticed that Homer has been MIA on the scoresheet, which is in stark contrast to him earlier this season before the injuries. I know that goal wasn't going in anyways, but another example of the refs messing up (by for some reason standing in front of the goal). Unfortunately, that was the right call that the refs made. And I agree that the ref messed up by being in front of the goal. Could have gotten a better view standing behind it Edited March 1, 2008 by commadore183

I was just wondering if anyone can tell me how he's been playing? Most of Homer's goals are deflections or whack-ins. Since nobody but Sammy is shooting the puck at the net, Homer can't really do what he does to score goals.
