Sentonial Debut 0 Report post Posted February 29, 2008 What about a Fabian Brunnstrom and Mikael Johansson duo. They both play for Farjestad in Sweden right now and are on one of the best teams. Try to pick up Hossa over the summer. what happened to this already being a done deal? i remember several weeks ago the headlines all over this site were that we had signed Brunnstrom
martin 0 Report post Posted February 29, 2008 what happened to this already being a done deal? i remember several weeks ago the headlines all over this site were that we had signed Brunnstrom Alright I would first start off be getting cleary stuart and maybe even lilja signed. The one free agent I would target is the righthanded shooting Ryder. He shouldn't cost more than 3 million for a 2 yr deal. I would also sign chelios to his usual one yr deal and let drake walk for sure. If Mac impresses I say sign him cheap for one more year and Downey also. this is what my lineup would look like. Datsyuk-zetterberg-holmstrom cleary-filpulla-ryder kopecky-franzen-samuelsson maltby-draper-mccarty hudler-downey lidstron-rafalski stuart-kronwall lilja-chelios-meech-lebda- one has to go and it might be lilja or lebda We could easily do all this and have more than enough to give zetterberg his contract. Especially if we let Lilja go because he might cost more than 2 million which he isn't worth.
SweWings 45 Report post Posted February 29, 2008 I'm not really worried about the forwards or defensemen but rather whether the tandem of Osgood/Howard is good enough for next season. Cuz Howard is supposed to be the dream, finally a "franchise" goalie who'll stick around for 10 years, but I'm not confident he's the guy. Problem is there's not many good goalies becoming UFA at the end of the season. Oh and Brunnström is definitely not a done deal although Detroit is likely among the teams he'd prefer to play for. As much as I love Rex, I'd rather have Brunnström but we'll see how it goes. (His name translates to Wellstream... How strange)
stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted February 29, 2008 I'm all for Brunnstom, but we need to see how he does in camp first, I'm all for signing him, but maybe keeping him in GR for the start of the year, if he's ok with that, let him adapt to the N.A game... if all the hype is legit, he'll be up here full time by December at the latest anyways... I'm also fine with letting Lilja walk if we give Ericsson the full time roll, but if we don't re-sign Lils and put in like Meech, I'll be pissed... we need some size back there... also Kindl will not be NHL ready for at least another year, maybe 2... he has a CRAP load of raw ability, but was pretty shell shocked in GR this year, last I heard he was DEAD last in +/- I think Stuart needs to stay as long as there isn't some adaptation problem (which I don't see happening) he is EXACTLY what we need in theory - puck moving dman with a blast on the point and has a mean streak I'd have no problem with our lineup being Flip-Dats-Holmer Cleary-Z-Brunnstrom Maltby-Draper-Franzen Hudles-Kopecky-Sammy/Downey Lids-Raffi Kronners-Stuart Ericsson-Chelios Meech and Lebda fighting it out for 7th dman spot... I was hoping that Sammy would quit or win the lottery so we wouldn't have to watch him more teammates than net with that horrible shot of his.

jim3033 1 Report post Posted March 1, 2008 what happened to this already being a done deal? i remember several weeks ago the headlines all over this site were that we had signed Brunnstrom Nobody can sign him until his season is over. Which could be a few months depending on how far he goes in the playoffs. It looks like he will come to Detroit but a lot of other teams are trying to woo him over now. He'll probably come here though. We're really good with Swedish players.
Daniel Chosen 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2008 With Holland at GM, we really don't have anything to look forward to as Wing's fans. Come on now. The Wings are 1st place in the league and contrary to a lot of whiners on this board, are still one of the favorites to win the cup. I feel sorry for any fan who isn't looking forward to the playoffs.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted March 1, 2008 Is this thread some kind of a joke? We just got done with the deadline where we realized that all our wishful thinking was for nothing since Holland didn't do s*** to improve our scoring. I'm not even going to fantasize anymore about players that we might have our should have, since it'll probably never happen. I know! It's ridiculous that free agency talk has already started. I really can't wait until free agency starts, just to see all the disappointed people on this forum when the Wings don't sign Rolston, or whoever is the big name everyone. It's like they all didn't see it coming, and that's what really makes it so funny! Oh, totally. With Holland at GM, we really don't have anything to look forward to as Wing's fans. He'll never do anything exciting in attempt to improve the team. Nothing to look forward to? You mean you don't love those usual cliches he throws out every year? Free agency cliche: "In a salary cap league, you just can't spend money on expensive free agents. Besides, we want to save money for the trade deadline, since we want to be active buyers." Trade deadline cliche: "We tried to make a move, but in the end, the price wasn't right. We couldn't afford to give up the kids. We're confident in the roster we have." This stuff is gold! I mean, you can expect the same thing every year, which is what makes the whole situation so funny. There should be a website celebrating Ken Holland's lame ass comments and broken promises he makes every year, because it would certainly make for some good entertainment! Come on now. The Wings are 1st place in the league and contrary to a lot of whiners on this board, are still one of the favorites to win the cup. I feel sorry for any fan who isn't looking forward to the playoffs. Glad I have your sympathy!
