Steroid use in the NHL

Steroids

I came across this article about why NHL players might take steroids. After seeing its use in all these other sports i have wondered for a while if it could be used in the NHL. Do you think it could one day be a problem? Should there be a more aggressive policy on steroid use?

I'm actually somewhat hopeful that the NHL does blow up with steroid news. (hear me out)

I'm not hopeful for seeing any player get caught and fined or worse. There is always going to be some way or path that people will take to improve their game. Not that steroids are something we should give up on, but the whole witch hunt is a bit excessive.

I just want the publicity, and to get bettman in trouble for his stupidity.

I saw his statement about how steroids aren't helpful to a hockey player (more or less a cut down version of what he said, and it's quoted in the posted article). What the hell kinds drugs is bettman on?

Then again, bettman maybe thinking of the goalies who cheat with excessive padding instead of drugs.

I just don't see what the possible upside is to takin steroids in hockey. That's probably why it's not as prevalent in hockey. Same in basketball. So much speed and finesse involved. Steroids would just hurt you as a player.

Read the article, it tells you right there. Increasing leg strength can have a huge benefit in hockey. Im sure theres also more than a few fighters that'll tell you the benefit of roids as well...

Bettman sounds like an absolute fool....not that its surprising.

I wouldn't mind seeing Hudler or Lebda take some roids. It might actually help their performance.

Personally, I think steroids help athletes in any sport, even though there's obvious side effects, thus it is an issue that should be addressed seriously. To say that it doesn't help in hockey is being a little naive.

This honestly may be the most retarded post I've ever read on LGW. "Yeah guys, nobody's paying attention to our sport, so let's compromise its integrity to get a few extra seconds of airtime in the national media." While we're at it, lets market Chris Simon's cheapshots because people pay attention to violence in the mainstream. If you want the reputation and integrity of hockey completely diminished, then by all means, introduce Crosby and Ovechkin to Kurt Radomski. But I personally enjoy knowing that our players' success is a result of hard work and dedication, and not a result of some shady dressing room attendant selling drugs behind the scenes.

Nice how you cut out and disregarded the paragraph BETWEEN those sentances.

All I needed to see was the first sentence

Ohh... So your saying if I had not separated the sentance off you would have glazed over it like the rest of what I said in a paragraph format?
