umredwing11 2 Report post Posted March 3, 2008 Kronwall just looks good now because all of the other dmen look that bad. He IS injury prone. Just accept the fact, and move on. I am definitely with you on the injury prone thing, but I think Kronner is a really good defenseman as well. The problem is he gets hurt so much that we don't get to see the things he did tonight as often as we would like. Plus, I thought we had a pretty strong defensive game tonight--I didn't think that anybody looked particularly awful tonight. Heck, even Lilja did a good play with his save on the pk. imisssergei 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2008 Hmm. No. Let me rephrase what I said. Kronwall looks so good right now because we aren't seeing Lidstrom and B. Ralf. Kronwall is the most noticeable d man in the lineup right now. His mistakes are overshadowed by those of Lilja, Meech, and co. I don't want to sound all doom and gloom, but he just isn't that good. imisssergei 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2008 I have to disagree with you! Kronwall has great skills. And you know what he posesses, it's something I see Lidstrom do, he sets up a play so nicely and makes good decisions, he's an intelligent player. Good interview with Drake tonight talking about how Kronwall always seems to find the forward down low making the great pass in to the tightest of spots. And Babs has always talked highly of him as well, and did so, some more tonight. He is a soild dman, I'm not saying he isn't. But he isn't a top 2 guy. He is a great option for a second pairing unit. There is no other d-man in the history of the game that posesses the skills and durability that Nic Lidstrom has. So anyone playing D, in Detroit will always be in the shadow. Again, Kronwall is a solid dman, but I think he is benifiting from Lidstrom and Ralffy being out, and the fact that there really isn't much else behind him right now. (I don't think Stuart can be used for comparison, he hasn't been with the Wings long enough, he is still in that 'feeling out' stage.)

theman19 47 Report post Posted March 3, 2008 Before all the freak injuries started to pile up Kronner was the MVP of nearly every swedish tourny he played in. No matter where he's played he's been a top end D man. Is he there yet? No,...but his improvments year after year are phenomial,..now if he can just stay healthy. Guest Crymson Report post Posted March 3, 2008 Kronwall just looks good now because all of the other dmen look that bad. Given the plays he has been making lately and how he was playing before he was injured, I certainly disagree.
Guest Canadian Wings Report post Posted March 3, 2008 I for one, never doubted Kronwall. I knew he had all the tools, just needed some confidence and consistency.
Guest LivingtheDream Report post Posted March 3, 2008 Kronwall is injury prone because of his wreckless style of play when it comes to his body. Hopefully he'll learn to be just a little smarter about who's bearing down on him and how to not leave himself open. Now that makes sense! Thanks!

Actually, Kronwall looks good because he's set up 4 easy goals for his wingers in two games, while playing great D in his own end.
Louisville 112 Report post Posted March 3, 2008 (edited) I thought Kronner look solid the last two games, but that give away in the defensive zone he had during our power play was BRUTAL. This thread would not exist had Hasek not been a wall last night. He made some key saves. Mickey didn't hold back to point out how stupid it was of him, and that he needs to learn when to make the safe play. Especially when your out of options, and you are the only man back in your zone. BTW, did I mention how much I love Mickey Redmond? He's made me choke on my beer a couple times since he came back. imisssergei 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2008 At the current rate of developement Kronwall will probably surpass Rafalski as our #1 Dman when Lidstrom retires in a few years.....Now if he can only stay healthy. I think you have the cart before the horse here. Let me rephrase.... If Kronwall can stay healthy, and keep up his current level of play, by the time Lidstrom retires he has a shot at being the number one dman.

Guest YzermanForever19 Report post Posted March 3, 2008 I'm also in that boat. Not that I ever hated the guy. But I did always think he was underachieving. Could be do to his injury trouble. But all I know is, this guy is for real. Not only can he throw his weight around. But he also has very sound awareness defensively and offensively. And as we all know, that Franzen goal was all Kronner. Great to see the guy starting to come into his own. At this point in his career, all we can do is hope he stays off IR. Otherwise it seams he will be a pretty promising defenseman in this league.
