miller76 463 Report post Posted March 6, 2008 (edited) I am sure someone on here will be able to help me with this. But when there is a cheap shot on somebody like Filppula late in the 3rd tonight, or the hits that the announcer says "oh I imagine the league will take a good look at this hit." I know the league supposedy looks at all the hits, but I don't seem to hear about them coming to a conclusion in the matter. I know NHL.com will put a little side note on the site, but it doesn't seem to corespond with all the shady cheap shots on a nightly basis. Maybe the league isn't finding that much wrong with most of these hits, and the announcer is just overracting. Does anyone have any insight to this? And on a side note. I like this youtube video, check it out if you want to laugh. Sorry not hockey related. Edited March 6, 2008 by miller76

Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted March 6, 2008 Most cheap shots that are pretty dangerous are taken care of, at least as far as I know. A week or so ago somebody was suspended for their hit on Meech, and Downey was even fined for his spear before the game against Vancouver. Of course things will slip by, but for the most part I think the general population goes punished with they do something stupid enough to injure illegally. My problem is in the punishment. Some nobody player can take out your best player on a head injury and get a two game suspension and a fine worth chump change for an nhl salary, whereas said injured superstar could go months without seeing a game again, and possibly have lifelong injury problems related to the initial hit.
