I've never gotten it to work. I downloaded the player and can find the link to the Wings game - but it's just a bunch of fuzz and lines. I heard there are add-ons that must be downloaded also - but have not been able to find those. I haven't bothered to check any sopcast forums - maybe they have advice on how to get the player to work.

I also don't see the links posted on the game day threads - that would help but not sure if they are allowed to announce where to go...

For now if the game is not on NHLN or yahoo, I just go for the 97.1 the ticket audio feed....

p.s. i'll check out that forum above and see if it helps any of us....

there are no special add ons or anything. basically you download sopcast from this link here:

http://www.download.com/SopCast/3000-13632_4-10601520.html

then you go to the nhl forum on the website myp2p and click on the today streaming thread. here:

http://www.myp2pforum.eu/nhl/

then on page one you will see all of the games listed for that particular day. here is a screen shot of today's games

Streaming schedule

* Schedule is SUBJECT TO CHANGE at a moment's notice.

* All times Eastern (and GMT or UK time) unless noted. Use the Time Zone Converter for assistance.

* Bitrates, when known, will be listed with a stream. DO NOT view a stream if you cannot download AND upload that bitrate safely, as you will potentially damage the stream for others.

* JIP = Game may be joined in progress after an earlier game concludes.

* Need a Proxy for Yahoo! streams? Click here

* Stream links can also be found here and for Europe.

Using VLC for SopCast streams

All SopCast streams can be viewed with VLC, but for some streams it is mandatory. VLC can also be a "quick fix" option worth trying if a stream buffers but won't load correctly.

To use VLC...

* Download VLC at VideoLAN - Free Software and Open Source video streaming solution for every OS! and install it.

* Start the SopCast stream and let it buffer.

* VLC, go to Open Network Stream, select "HTTP" option, and type in 127.0.0.1:8902 (If port 8902 doesn't work, try 8912).

* You MUST leave SopCast running; closing SopCast closes the stream.

* You may need to mute the sound on SopCast so it doesn't bleed with the sound in VLC.

* To make VLC a default external player on SopCast 2.0.4, visit this thread.

* FOR TVU PLAYER YOU TYPE 127.0.0.1:8901 in the "HTTP" option

Using Windows Vista? Can't click on a link and load it?

* Right-click on the link and select "Copy".

* Go to the SopCast address bar and paste the link.

* OR, hover the mouse on the link, and the SopCast channel URL will appear in the browser status bar at the bottom of the URL. Type that URL into the SopCast address bar.

you then click on the link for whatever game it is you want to see (on the page they look like regular web links) and this will automatically open sopcast and it will begin attempting to connect to the stream. USUALLY you should also use what is called VLC media player. here is a link to download it: http://www.download.com/VLC-Media-Player/3....html?tag=lst-1

now is where it gets a little trickier. once the stream has loaded in the sopcast video window open VLC at the same time. click file in VLC and select open network stream. select the box that says HTTP/HTTPS/FTP/MMS and past this address in there: 127.0.0.1:8902 (If port 8902 doesn't work, try 8912). this should open the game in the VLC window and should the game should play. you may need to mute the volume on the sopcast player and just watch it in VLC.

the odd time sopcast feeds can be low quality or kind of choppy but just check the forum to find out what is going on.

hope this helps anyone who wants to use sopcast and if you have any problems feel free to PM me here and i will be happy to help because sopcast is awesome and i can watch every game i want to now.

I skimmed throught the replie so far really fast so if someone said it already I apolagize, but just so you know there are plenty of other programs than sopcast.

I watch a lot of english football, I mean soccer, and a lot of times I have to check several programs before I get a good stream. Two other really good programs are TVU Player and TV Ants. TVU is especially good for US broadcasted sports because channels such as Versus, FSN, ESPN will ALMOST always be online and if a TVU Channel is online that means you will get a solid, high quality stream (much more reliable than sopcast streams). A couple weeks back I was watching a game at a friend's house on my laptop and the stream was more clear than what I got on my big screen at home (it stretches the picture too much).

Watching games on a computer is definetely frustrating at times, but once you start to get a hang of it you can almost always find a stream for a wings game.. I couldn't be a fan of a team I couldn't watch them play live.. I don't know how some of you guys do it!

tvants is a really bush league program and ive had nothing but trouble with it, TVU is almost always better for me too because the buffer seems to be a little better or something. myp2p offers link for all 3 programs though, it depends on the streamers preference.

TVants works well with the european sports I watch, but your right I've never ended up watching a wings game on TVants because the stream is usually too poor of quality.

Also, if a game is ever offered on the MediaPlayer be sure the check it out becuase its usually really good quality and you don't have to install anyhing or do anything for it to work

Thanks for the detailed info! The VLC player was the key - testing on the Ducks game. When I go full screen it's not too bad. Usually via yahoo, NHLN, and VS I can watch a number of the games - but not all, so this will help!
