Just bad luck.

I've seen it happen to Brodeur, Roy, Hasek, Osgood, Fuhr, Joseph, Kolzig, Potvin... and probably a whole lot more.

None of them were as bad as this one IMO. Toskala had heaps of time to get behind it. As akustyk said, you can't stick out your glove. Get down on your knees and get your body in front of the puck. Bad bounces don't matter then. And Toskala had all day to do this. He just took it too easy. But again, good on him for shutting the door from then on.

Remember this one? From the old EHL (European Hockey League) final.

Dynamo Moscow losing 1-0,Andrei Markov shoots from his own end with 13 seconds to go.

Metallurg won it in the end though (I think in the shootout?)

Really ?

Blasphemy!!!!!!!!

Elite goalies NEVER allow for such horrific goals to be scored on them.... Doing so MUST question their elite status

Brody you are now under question?!?!

As for Vesa....Ooooops

 i laughed so hard when I saw it... Just so long as he doesn't get the chance to say, "Hmm doesn't look too far!!!" during his stanley cup celebration :D

What dazzles me is why Marty let go / lost his stick...

It looks so weird given the fact that it's really Martin Brodeur under that mask...

I think it adds to the effect... or actually, it takes "slightly" away from the horrible goal it was hehe

He did have his body in front of it. His glove swipe was in front of his body, not beside it. The fact is, the puck hopped up, but it also hopped sideways. So while he was completely in front of where it was going, it didn't end up going there.

Ok. But I'll still argue that if he doesn't try to catch the thing and let it hit him in the chest we aren't having this dicussion. Which would actually suck as I saw it on ESPN at the bar all night and couldn't help but chuckle everytime.

Really.

I'll never forget that because I switched off the TV thinking "How lucky can these pieces of s*** be?". Seriously, the Ducks fans didn't even know what icing was. They thought it was a 3-pt play or something. Anyway...

Sure, he stuffed up big-time but he mishandled a fairly fast-moving puck which happened to go back into the net.

Toskala sat a waited all day for a slow skipping puck that was on net and failed to get his body behind it.

Seems like Vesa should of been much farther out of his net to cut off the angle, especially when you see the puck bouncing up and down so erractically before it gets to him.

I've had this happen to me in goal as well, but not from 197 feet lol...
