Jon_G 6 Report post Posted April 9, 2008 I am in, I've been growing playoff beards since 2002. I normally wear a beard thats trimmed short with no moustache, but I will shave it off the morning of Game 1 (Thursday). I always shave my neck during the playoffs but I let the rest of my face go until the Wings are out. I made the mistake last year of trimming it for a job interview. This was during the Ducks series and the Wings lost, so I wont make the same mistake ever again!!! Track my playoff beard on my webcam: I'll probably shave my neck regularly during the playoffs, as I start to look like Abe Lincoln otherwise.
Gordie Howe hat trick 110 Report post Posted April 9, 2008 Personaly I have been at mine since we clinched over the Stars. I always thought if you are going to do it you have to start when your team is in for sure. Then again, if that were the case we would need to be growing one all season. Swayze 81 Report post Posted April 9, 2008 (edited) I've done one for the last 2 years, and i'm definitely doing it again. I think this year i'm gonna start out with a pre-beard though, just trim it really short tomorrow morning and then not touch it till we hoist lord stanleys cup. edicius 3,269 Report post Posted April 9, 2008 I assume everyone's seen this website devoted to the playoff beard. I knew there was a reason the Red Wings brought Darren McCarty back! Facial Hair. He and Holstrom should start looking like man-sized Ewoks towards the end of round 1.

Nev 1,085 Report post Posted April 9, 2008 (edited) Well, I'm in a dilemma here. I've not shaved for a week, so I've got some pretty serious beardy foundations in place - I'm at that horrible itches-like-hell-till-it-gets-a-bit-longer phase. I should shave tomorrow before game1 cos I'm kinda cheating right now, but I don't want to have to suffer the itch again. To further complicate things, Mrs Nev has just rung me at work and I'm on a promise for Friday night, provided I shave before then!!! Now for you young guys that might not seem like a big deal, but when you've married for 8 years and have 2 kids aged 3 months and 3 years, believe you me, you need to take advantage of every opportunity!! edit: ooh look, I made the 4th line Edited April 9, 2008 by Nev

RedLightGoesOn 81 Report post Posted April 9, 2008 The only problem is that I am from middle eastern descent, so me + beard @ aiport = trouble.... but let me say I can get a nice beard going... I would have to ask the approriate parties if I could grow a beard (you know who I am talking about). And yes, I think I would dye it Red to support the Wings... Im that crazy. Guest Hank=FutureCaptain Report post Posted April 10, 2008 I always have a beard. But it's not long or anything. Only like 2-3 days past the "shadow" stage. So maybe I just let my current beard grow crazy long?(of course assuming there will be a long playoff run)
