Here's a piece from the GR Griffins site regarding Kyle Quincy's last appearance:

"McGrath faked to his forehand before slipping a backhand through Weiman's pads at 13:52, but before he could even raise his arms in celebration, he was driven into the end boards by Dale Purinton. The dirty hit drew a pugilistic response from Kyle Quincey - but no penalty from the referee"

At 6'2" and 210 pounds, Quincy just might be someone to stick up for his teamates whenever (if) he's called-up and manages to stay.

Quincey's a physical defenseman, not a fighter. He will not be able to take on the heavyweights.

Last time I heard, he was playing in the ECHL for the Alaska Aces. But I guess he's in the AHL now

Quincey's a physical defenseman, not a fighter. He will not be able to take on the heavyweights.

I always considered Purinton to be a heavyweight. Not one of the better ones, but a heavy. He always reminded me of a Kocur type...not the highest profile enforcer, but he's got a huge right. That Quincey was willing to go with him may have been more due to the fact that Purinton has been pretty rough with Griffins players this season, but it shows he'll step up against heavies.

He'll fight on occasion if he ever becomes a regular, but not an enforcer per say.

Yeah I always thought Purinton was a pretty good fighter too. Who knows maybe Quincey can become a defensive version Lecavalier or Iginla: Great player, but will drop the gloves if necessary.

they played each other 10 times this year. Puritan fired a puck at Q in the warm-up the game before, with all kinds of rough stuff going in the series. In this game he slashed Q on the hand (recall it was broken earlier on) Q went ballistic to the tuneof 10-5-2 and a game. Both he and Ericcson will fight. The are better than enforcers because they can play the game in all 3 periods so they can take on skaters, not idiots like Parros, Brashear, etc.

Either way, I don't doubt Quincey can take on someone above his weightclass occassionally, but that's very different from being an enforcer and dropping the mitts with the toughest boys night after night. I still have high hopes for Quincey to become a solid 4th-5th defenseman some day.

Quincey wouldn't be an enforcer but he's a great team guy to have around and he's one of those guys who can bring a lot to team toughness throughout the season, I was really hoping he'd play this year
