NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted April 2, 2008 If i had a time machine back to the early 90s and i told myself cheli would be a wing, id have to hit myself. There was a time the Hawks were a pretty good team, and, I had the luck to see some of those games in Chicago (since i live in Kalamazoo, I have the ability to go see the Wings in chitown in same amount of travel as it would take me to see them in detroit) and I remember all the Wings Sucks jerseys and the pregame hate fest, then the feeling id be mugged walking to my car wearing a wings jersey after we won. And while the Detroit Avs rivalry was good, it was short, the Avs lost most of their talent and just now are recovering. So id Agree with never forget mac. Don't misunderstand me....I'm not discrediting the Wings/Avs rivalry one bit. It was the most intense rivalry in sports from '97 through the '02 playoffs. What I am saying is that for those that were around to witness the Wings/Blackhawks rivalry, it was nothing to shy away from either and the Cheli-Wings rivalry was greater than the Forsberg-Wings rivalry. No matter how anyone feels the Wings/Blackhawks rivalry versus the Wings/Avalanche rivalry, my comment was simply in regard to Cheli being much more hated by Wings fans than Forsberg ever was or ever will be. I agree, the reason i agree is because though intense the rivalry between Wings/Avs was short, if you are a new fan, or a very old fan, its a just a blip, Chicago will always be a rival, besides, Cheli was a dirty player

I'm not about to compare either the Wings/Blackhawks or the Wings/Avalanche rivalry to the age old Wings/Leafs rivlary because its not a fair comparison as I wasn't around to be a part of it. RockyMountainWingGal 108 Report post Posted April 2, 2008 (edited) I'm not so sure he'll get injured and miss action. I heard one report on TV that he's been run more in the past month than ever in his career. He's holding up somewhat so far, so he might just surprise in the playoffs. Somewhat? he missed more games than he's played since he got here (Denver). He has a very difficult time playing two games in a row. Rumor here in Denver is that his ankles are really bothering him (no duh after so many surgeries). I don't see him being able to withstand playing playoff games every other day for too long - but we'll see. And yes his goal last night probably looked pretty on the highlight reel, but let's no forget it's the Canucks - except for their one night of glory vs. the Flames, they have been abysmal at best. Point is - he's not the Forsberg we are used to seeing. Of course he can make on impact on the Avs - hard not to improve that team from where they were before the trade deadline - but he certainly does NOT have me shaking in my boots - if it comes to it - Nick will kick his a$$ - outplaying him that is. YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted April 2, 2008 The question was never whether or not he was old and washed up. Its ALWAYS been his durability. I dont care if he can score 2.5 points per game. If he only plays 20 games a season, hes not worth it. That said, yes, Im glad we didnt get him. 100 points in 8 games or 3 points. One hit, one shove, one stride too far, and hes out. When the goin gets tough, where will he be? Probably on the bench.

Stevie Y 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2008 Did you guys see that he leads the league in points per game? check out that the stats at www.NHL.com Forsberg 1.56 AO 1.37 Crosby 1.36 I know that he only played 9 games and that he prolly wouldn't have kept up that pace but it's still not too bad...
