HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted April 17, 2008 Those of you complaining, get down to a game then talk. You'll see the difference of how damn loud it is being there compared to the way it sounds on TV and then you'll realize oh wow..the mics must suck.

#19forPresident! 1 Report post Posted April 17, 2008 Well it's clear you weren't at either of those games, I was at game one and having been to several years of playoff games at the Joe I can comfortably say it was one of the loudest I've experienced. Not trying to be insulting, but you're wrong, there's no sense in getting pissed based on a T.V. broadcast, it's absolutely nothing compared to being there. DeuxEx 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2008 I was at game two and my ears were practically ringing at the end of the game. It was damn loud, anyone who says different wasn't at the game. The mics in JLA don't seem to pick up the noise as well.
KronwallCRUNCH 5 Report post Posted April 17, 2008 I haven't gotten to one yet this year (hopefully I will have a shot in round two......cough cough) but it sure as hell seems like the preds fans are always standing up and hooting and hollering. They were standing I think the last four mins of the game and going wild. I would kill to see that at our games. Hell, if its loud now (according to some on here) lets make it louder. Bring bottles full of change or those stupid hand clappers or anything. Hell even sneak an airhorn in like the good old days. Then if you haven't been to a game, shut the hell up and stop complaining about a "lame crowd." Game 2 was loud, if you were there, you would know that. If you want to make it louder, then how about buying a ticket and bringing a hand clapper of your own. I love the fact that someone would call out other fans while they're contributing to the proposed problem that they've decided to create a thread about. dgodzina 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2008 I've been to regular season and playoff games at the Joe and regular season games at the Sommet. The Sommet had more energy and noise in the regular season game that any JLA playoff game I've been to. However, that doesn't mean our crowds are lame. It just means that their crowds are a little more insane when they play us. And they should be. It's a fact that Nashville fans hate the Wings more than any other team and they would love nothing more than to get their first ever series win against us. Sounds like a good enough reason to get pumped up to me.
Guest Mac4Life25 Report post Posted April 17, 2008 I swear to god, how does a team that has been around for 10 years in a redneck city (sorry, anger coming out right now...) has an arena that is that fricken raucous....This is getting pathetic. Nashville feeds off their crowd. If our boys fed off our crowd then they would be anorexic and dying. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE HOCKEYTOWN, THIS IS THE PLAYOFFS EVERYONE GET OFF THEIR ASSES AND MAKE SOME NOISE OR DONT BUY THE TICKETS!!!! I bet if we make it all the way to the cup that our arena wouldnt be that loud. It breaks my heart to see this. Please make noise. Please be raucous. Chant, get the boards rocking, toss those octopi. wear red, hell lets get a sea of red. Those boys will reward you I guarentee it. I feel ya man. I've been going to games for over 10 years now. And comparing 98 to 08 is a complete joke. There isn't even a comparison. Back then I remember there always being chants going on. Always really loud and energetic. And now?? It's like sometimes I'm the only one going crazy. I've had to start chants during the past few years. Never thought I would be the one starting them. Back in the day I would have never had the chance to start one. Cause the fans were all rowdy like me. Now it feels like I'm in a minority. And it's getting really old.... datsyukismyfriend 4 Report post Posted April 17, 2008 for those saying the joe is loud??? granted i've never seen a playoff game there, but wings fans cheer louder at the united center for chrissakes! the joe has a pretty boring atmosphere. i actually thought, 'hey, not bad', when i watched game one and two, and then the nashville games the crowds literally distorted the speakers on my tv. unreal. say what you will about nashville and their fans, but they know how to rock that joint. also, for those saying people who haven't been to the joe can't compare, have you been to nashville? how do you know the joe is as loud? redwingtim 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2008 I went to Games 1 and 2 in Detroit and thought the atmosphere was pretty good. I was also fortunate enough to get to Nashvile for Game 3 and you know what, it was pretty quiet for half the game. Then they scored, got some momentum and the place turned into a zoo - louder than hell. It pretty much stayed that way, but the Wings have done as much as the Pred's to get the Nashville crowd into this series. This one is going to go to the wire. HockeytownRN 0 Report post Posted April 17, 2008 Anyone EVER hear other teams get interviewed? The Joe is one of, if not THE least favorite arena for them to play, in part due to the fans. They say it is difficult to play there. I've been to more than 20 games this season, and have been to MANY playoff games. Anyone saying the Joe is quiet during the playoffs needs to go. I swear you will never regret spending the money, it is SOOOO worth it!

RedWingsFanatic 4 Report post Posted April 17, 2008 So, here's my thing. We want to be like Predators fans? Since when is being a good fan determined by your ability to make a fool out of yourself? I mean, excuse me, but I would much rather have a building like JLA, filled with fans that have been watching the Wings for years and years, than a building like the Sommet Center where half the fans probably can't name five players on their team, but sure know how to be loud! When I go to games, I don't make very much noise. I get excited when good things happen, but I'll skip out on the "Chelios is a baby" type chants, thank you very much. I don't think our fans are pathetic or should be embarrassed because we fail compensate for our lack of hockey knowledge with constant screaming.

I have been to both (granted the hawks never make it to the playoffs so.... yeah... i DON'T comment on their playoff "loudness") Correct me if I am a wrong but i have never made that comparison... its the people who haven't been to either that are comparing the volume on their TV's and saying one is louder than the other. Simple solution as I said above... Set your TV volume to 12 for the Summit Center Games and 16 for the JLA games.. and Viola its louder If you never had an APPLE... how can you say it tastes better than an ORANGE? McCartyFanForLife 17 Report post Posted April 17, 2008 It only seems louder at the Nashville arena because they have the mics right there by the fans. You get to hear every dadgum scream and yell. OH, and the clappers and whistle too. I went to game 5 of the Calgary series last year and it was extremely loud. Just because it doesn't appear that way on your TV, doesn't mean it's not loud at the arena.
