Excellent first period. As usual, the announcers attribute the Wings successes as Dallas' lack of their "#1 penalty killer" Lehtinen. Buncha tards.

I noticed that too. It's not due to Detroit's successes...it's Dallas' failures.

In other news.....so much for being rusty after 7 days off! PP looks terrific, and 5on5 apart from that open net and a couple of horrible turnovers by Kronner (esp that no-look through the legs backhand on the pp) Dallas have barely had a sniff. Great job boys, keep it up

Loved how he and Ron were lost in Pittsburgh.

Cherry was very opinionated, but naturally, didn't care to hear anybody else's opinion. He should have pushed the instigator rule a bit more, would have made better radio.

When he started talking about the shops in Pittsburgh... "There's this watch store...and it used to be a hat store! I ain't kidding ya!"

I loved when he started talking instigator rule though. Bettman didn't want to touch that at ALL.

very good 1st period. maltby has done very well - he has shown a lot of energy, played physical and drew the penalty for the 2nd goal. as much as i love d-mac, i am glad to see malts back. as poor as his regular season play has been the last few years, he really steps it up come playoff time

Good first period by us, Dallas look's so scared to attack because they don't want to get caught up the ice. We will be hard to beat if we give up 4 shots a period..end of story. Now for my rant...I watch most of my hockey on TSN being that I am from Canada. I like the guys who call the games, Cuthbert and Miller are very good IMO, the analyst's like Pierre, Healey etc...are hit and miss with me, but the thing that is really getting on my nerves with TSN is that it seem's every intermission their only interest is complaining about the officiating. Do some player interviews, or bio's or analyze the strategic part of the game but for crying out loud quit picking apart every controversial call after every period!!

To be fair, the Modano penalty looked very soft, but then again there was a blatant trip on Z when we were on the PK that wasn't called so.. *shrug*

Hey, Mule's job is to stand in front of the net and screen or tip shots. It's hard to get assists there.

And while Brett Hull isn't quite in the rank of "best players in the history of the game", how about these years:

1989-90 72-41-113

1990-91 86-45-131

1991-92 70-39-109

Mule's no Brett Hull, but a team needs goal scorers too. A guy has 12 goals in 10+ games and you're complaining? I doubt anyone in the locker room is...

Edit: and I don't think it's fair to burden Franzen with one of the "best players in the history of the game" label.
