Game two notes...

Well, all in all it's another loss. We looked better for sure. I don't know what factor it was that made us flat in game one, but it wasn't there tonight.

Congrats to the Wings on another win. We had some great chances to make a run of things throughout, but it just didn't happen for us. And, you guys closed the door just like I figured you would.

Now, I know this is going to be the touchy subject of this game as was us being "tired" in game one. Riberio. I dont and will never believe what Osgood did was an accident, but that was not the proper reaction to it. He took what could have been a cheap shot out of the hands of Osgood, and one up'd him with one of his own. He shouldn't have done that, but Osgood was being quite the Thespian, as well. You can not tell me a slash where he didnt even reach back for full swinging motion and strikes him to where it looked to be the chest/shoulder area...an area that is peppered by pucks on a nightly basis caused that much damage to Osgood. I understand just about everyone in the NHL would have "acted" the same way Osgood did if they were struck as well. Bottom line is Riberio shouldn't have done it. Suspensions? Well, Riberio one game. Osgood one game.

Im sure thats gonna make some people here pretty crazy. But, try to see it from someone elses view. That whole situation warrants two people being suspended.

Anyways, again congrats on the win. Your boys shut us down when they needed to and the PP was big again for you guys.

Heres to taking care of business at home.

Turco should be out of the series then for all his stick work. What do you say about that?

Yep.

I'd love to see the tune everyone would be singing had it been Turco slightly tapping a Wings player skating by...ohh wait..he's already done worse SEVERAL times. Like I said I'd love to see that happen and have one of the Wings react the way Ribiero did then see what everyone's reaction would be.

Osgood is a calm, composed guy. He never has been the type to intent to hurt someone. It's not his style. It was an accident, and Ribiero completely overreacted.

Dudes, arguing about it gets you nowhere. We weren't out there playing for either team, so we aren't responsible what players do or don't do, nor do we have a say in what the NHL decides to do, and what calls the refs make. People always have to be complaining about something, just give it a rest and enjoy the series, win or lose.

Neither will be suspended and neither should be in my opinion. Had Ozzie not hindered Ribeiro's progress by putting his stick out, Mike would've never swung his stick at Oz. To me, that's why there won't be a suspension, because the league will look at this as Oz "kind of" started it and Robeiros' swing didn't have a horrific outcome. While its no excuse, Ribeiro was frustrated after dropping the first two games and a lot of times the littlest things can set people off when emotions are riding as high they are this time of the year.

That being said, I don't like that Ribeiro swung his stick at Oz. If he's got some beef with Osgood for holding his stick out, he should've went up to him and gave him a little push. You can't start swinging sticks just because you're upset. Oz certainly didn't have to impede his progress, but every single goalie does that when an opposing player skates by. They try and make the opponent skate further away giving their teammates a little more time to play the puck. I truly believe all Oz was trying to do was to force Riberio to take a further route to get to the puck, and it just so happened that it caught Mike up high.

I agree. He should not have hit him with his stick. He should have gotten in his face and shoved him or even wrestle him to the ground(he would have been mauled by everyone in red haha).

I dont condone his actions. I can see there being suspensions and not.

Either way we need to score haha.

Assuming Ozzie did anything on purpose he should not be suspended. It's a high stick penalty, nothing more.

What Ribeiro did is the type of bulls*** that Marty McSorely did in a moment of stupidity. Thankfully Ozzie is the most padded and protected player on our team. I'm thinking by the look on Mike's face that he forgot where he was and just had a moment where he wasn't thinking. Either way, what he did was incredibly dangerous.

Stars looked much better tonight. I don't want to say the Wings played bad, because overall they did play well. But there were many more turnovers and missed plays than we have been seeing lately.

Look forward to Game 3, if the Wings win, it's all over.

Remember, only steers and queers come from TX.

Right now your looking like the later whining about Ozzies hit on Ribgina.

Dallas had every opportunity to tie and win tonight.

How many calls did they get and how many were "missed"?

I think both had a part in this incident, which was just that. Ribiero over-reacted (maybe out of frustration) to something every goalie does, which is impede an opposing skater's progress with a little sleight of stick when they think they can get away with it. If Ozzie appeared to be acting when he hit the deck, it was probably because he was very surprised to have a skater swing a stick at him for something they all know happens every day. Not looking for that reaction, you know?

Anyway, Tippett will have a discussion with Ribiero, no doubt. I am sorry Mike did this, mainly because he's redeemed himself in Dallas and really found a niche. He has been great for the Stars. He's better than this, IMO.

If the Wings are smart, they will let him know they are watching him, and make him wonder... but do nothing, other than win two more games in Big D. That's the worst thing they could do to Ribiero.

You realize there is a game day thread for every game?

You don't need to make your own thread for your thoughts on each game, your "notes" are no more important than anyone elses.

No one else has a problem with it. It's from his perspective being a Stars fan. I see nothing wrong with him making a thread for his take on the game. Most opposing team fans do that.

Gotta agree, Turco was guilty of much more than a simple butt-end more than once during the game. It's unfortunate, but ribiero will likely be suspended for acting stupid when there was nothing to gain by doing so. I would like to see the NHL really take a look at Turco's play throughout the course of the game and make sure that if he pulls the same type of crap in game three that he's penalized. He may call Oz classless, but what the hell does that make him?

Zero-tolerance to deliberate 2 handers to the face upper body...with and without stick breakage. SUSPENDABLE.

Osgood's a low key guy, doesn't have a history of starting fights (to my recollection), his back was to the play, he said he didn't mean it--if there was even a butt end to the face (Ribero has a history of faking injury)

I really like your notes after each game. Just remember you can't please everyone ever.

I thought the stars played much better in game 2. The game could have turned at any moment, it's a great playoff game for the Wings to win.

I don't think any suspensions should come from the end of game antics. I will stick up for Osgood in that Ribeiro (sp?) was running at Rafalski as the clock ran out. Oz was trying to protect his D-man and probably should have gotten a high sticking minor.

One thing I am wondering is has Dallas always been so good at tripping guys up. It seems like everytime contact is made a leg or stick come out to trip up the opponent and with the refs not calling anything it is a wonderful tactic to slow your opponent. Got on my nerves but I can still respect it.

I too enjoy reading your game notes. It's always nice to get the other perspective. I do have a question for you. What are your thoughts on Turco, and his antics last night. I've read alot of the stars fan's responses to the Ribiero incident, and it sounds like a majority of them persecute Ozzie for the sticking of Ribiero. But, none address the point that if Ozzie is guilty of intent to injure, so is Turco. We all defend our own, it's natural. But what makes it okay for Turco and not for Ozzie? Just looking for your perspective.

Thanks for posting. I like reading your thoughts.

Your thoughts are fine... just be careful when you start speaking out about the crowds being in attendance that is very touchy to many that work for peanuts and dish out Filet Migon to go to games!

This was more for your game one notes... but i am just sayin'

Also Riberio NO SUSPENSION.... I want Downey to f*** him up tomorrow make him bleed his own blood on his own ice 5.gif
