NCAA Men's Lacrosse

Would love to know if there are any NCAA lax fans on these boards?

The tournament is underway and we have already seen some surprises. #15 Navy downed #10 UNC. #13 Ohio State toped #8 Cornell. At this point, i think that we will be seeing Duke and Cuse fight for the title on Memorial Day Weekend.

IF you have never seen a game, you should try and catch the semi finals on ESPN2 on Saturday May 24 and then the finals will be on Monday the 26th. If you like hockey you should check out some college lax. It is fast and full of action.

If you are a lax fan, i would love to hear your thoughts on the tournament. I'm hoping Cuse gets the ring but i'm kind of thinking that Duke is on a mission.

Very casual fan of college lacrosse here....I watch if I get the chance when UVA is on. I got no analysis to offer of the tournament....I did get to see some of our game against UMBC today though. UGLY. I blame the swampy field. We have Maryland next - split the season series with them.

I watch the finals when they're on and I went to the finals with some buddies in 2003 and 2005. Had a lot of fun both times. Since MSU isn't varsity anymore, I don't really have a favorite school. Anybody but Duke.

I always watch the Final Four tournaments that are on ESPN. I watched Ohio State set a couple of attendance records when we beat Denver U earlier this season at the Horseshoe. That was fun.

yeah i heard that that game was crazy. I planned on going but had a game that weekend up here. I did get a chance to see them play up here in the GWL tournament in Birmingham. That was really cool to see Division I lacrosse in Michigan again.

I really hope that OSU can make it far in the tourney. They will have a long tough road ahead of them.

Yeah, we got Duke next. If we can beat them, then this program will have taken a big step forward.

That streak is over! Fencing won! So after two BCS games, a basketball loss, a soccer loss, and countless other unimportant versity sport losses, the streak is finally over

Are you serious or just making that up? Fencing?! Oh well, the joke was fun while it lasted....

As far as I am still aware, a kid I played Lacrosse with in High School is on a lacrosse scholarship at UMBC. hes a freshy, and plays midfield. Really really talented, and fast. Though, IMO lacrosse is almost a pick up and play sport meaning if you have quick feet, the skills can be developed rather easily through hard work.

Still a great sport, and I am from NC, so I would have to say.... go Duke (NC State doesnt have a Division 1 team)

Haha, I'm serious. My roommate is a fencer, he's not as lame as that sounds.

After you said that I looked it up, and sure enough. I used to work with someone who was a all Big Ten fencer at MSU, but the year after that they dropped it to club so he became kind of a no one. He was sweet, so I believe your roommate is...

I'll try and switch the subject back to Lacrosse. Thats pretty cool OSU played in the Shoe. It's similar to the cold war, except not a rivalry.

I'd love to get a UVA-Duke rematch in the championship (and win, of course.) We lost the ACC title game but the national championship would make up for it.

Gotta get through Maryland and then probably Syracuse though. That's tough.

U-M won the Lacrosse National Championship tonight against Chapman. It's a club sport though.....

NC State, the school I go to is a club sport as well. wish they were division 1.

They say lax is one of the few sports you need no natural ability to be really good at. I played from 8th grade until my senior year, and it's my 2nd favorite sport to play behind hockey. I just wish it was on TV more.

I don't agree that you don't need to have no natural ability. I have seen a ton of guys who are great athletes try and pick it up and fail at it. It does take some natural hand eye coordination as well as some athletic ability. You don't need a ton of athletic ability either to make it in the game. I was by far not the greatest athelete on my teams but i have always been one of the top players on my teams. I worked my but off to make sure i could shoot with the best of them and that i could protect my stick as well as the top players. It helped me out a ton and i did get offers to play in college. Lucky for me, i didn't have the grades need to get into any of the schools that were interested in me. Oh well.

I have to say that right now i'm seeing a Cuse vs. Duke championship game. All three games next weekend should be great ones. I'm bummed that OSU got knocked off. They have made some huge strides in the last few years. I'm very happy for them. I have had the pleasure of spending some time with some of their players and coaching staff over the last couple of years. All class acts.

I hope to see Cuse win but wouldn't mind seeing Duke win either. Should be a great weekend. Wish i could make it down to Foxboro and see the games. Oh well, i have to work. At least i will get to watch the games well i'm at work.

Not so fast, yo. We knocked off the 'Cuse in the regular season. Close overtime game. It's been a tough ride for us so far this tournament, but I'll just turn on the excuse machine and say the sloppy field hurt us against UMBC and Maryland gave us fits all season anyway. This field is like a basketball Final Four of UNC, Duke, Kentucky, and UCLA, so it's gonna be a hard road for whoever wins.

I will agree with you on that one. But if i could hand pick them, i would put Cuse vs Duke for the title. I know a couple of guys from the Cuse team and would to see them win it. Even though most of them don't get much time. It will still be great for them to get a ring.

Two great games today.

I was so happy to see Cuse come back from behind and win a heck of a game in double overtime. They really looked like the team to beat today until game two that is.

Hop played great keeping two of the best scores in the game off the scoring sheet for most of the day. They looked like a well oiled machine on D. They goalie played out of his mind.

Monday should be a great game. I'm hoping that Cuse can pull it off but after seeing Hops D today i'm worried. Game will be on ESPN. Nothing better then watching great lacrosse then a cup final game.

Well it was a great game today and cuse came out on top. I think it all came down to their physical conditioning this weekend and they showed who the best team was.

Congrats to all the Michigan boys on that team. Most of which are all sophomores this year. Enjoy it and get to work on defending that title.

I disagree. I have no natural ability and I sucked at lacrosse when I played in college.

does anyone else find indoor lacrosse almost a disgrace to the real deal? I mean, its entertaining no doubt, but it almost seems TOO much like hockey. Lacrosse, IMO, is meant to be outdoors, and outdoors only.

oh, and congrats to Syracuse on their win, great stuff!

I love the field game. I learned the field game because box was not really something that the states has a lot of. Box is a much more brutal game that requires much more stick skills to be successful at. If you are use to watching field lacrosse then box seems like a crazy game. If you grew up on box then switched over to field you tend to have an appreciation for the box game.

The biggest joke, IMO, is the MLL. They turned lacrosse in to a circus with its two point shots and only allowing 3 long poles on the field. IF it is on then i watch it because you hardly ever see lax on TV. If i had to chose i would pick a college club game over MLL.
