Hank Dats 'N Homer 81 Report post Posted May 12, 2008 I was watching the philly/ pitts game and at the end i was listening to Don cherry talk about something he said earlier. I didnt catch the earlier conversation but he was correcting what he said beore by saying that Mules arent castrated they are born sterile or something along those lines. I dont know why he was talking about it, but the only thing i could think of was him bashing Franzen for someting. Did anything catch the whole conversation and the meaning behind it? Was it Cherry just bashing the wings again, or was it just reckless bable that he is so accustomed to?
toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted May 12, 2008 I was half listening to that as well and wasn't sure what they were talking about. I'm normally a good multi-tasker, but I guess not this time.
Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted May 12, 2008 Its just Cherry being Cherry. He started up the conversation about a group of people ("intellects") wanting to do some graphic for Franzen and pulled up a pic of a donkey, thinking it was a mule. Cherry claims to have corrected them, then went on to say that Mules are castrated, but I think he mixed up what castration and sterile means. Just about everything he says you have to take with a grain of salt. He's more of a comic relief type analyst in my eyes than anything else, with things he talks about having loose ties with actual issues and game events. marcaractac 3,963 Report post Posted May 12, 2008 Nah he was just talking about Mules in general. He was not referring to Franzen at that point. Plus, he has praised the Wings far more as of late than criticize. The only thing I've seen him say that was negative was about the Joe being quiet in game one (which it sure as hell came off as on TV anyway), but he couldn't even hear himself talk when he was actually there for game two doing his CBC coverage. Everyone just took that whole redneck thing the wrong way.
Doggy 130 Report post Posted May 12, 2008 Cherry really doesn't bash the Wings. Any criticism he gives us is usually pretty fair. "The Wings don't retaliate." "The Wings don't play play with much passion." "I think the Wings will win the Cup." "Detroit is my favourite city in America beside Boston." The way some people react to him makes no sense. Rivalred 630 Report post Posted May 12, 2008 A horse is a horse.. A donkey is a donkey.. When a Horse (female) and a Donkey (male) breed it results in a Mule.... Horse (female) + Donkey (male) = Mule (which is sterile)

I totally agree. Almost every time he talks about the Wings he has nothing but good things to say about them. It's like, for every 10 things about the Wings he says, 9 of them are complements, but everyone seems so keen on judging him by the one bad one, which he for the most part he has a good point. He is constanlty praising our ability to put the puck in the net, and he loves players like Cleary and Homer. He even says Homer is better then Smyth, and Smyth is Canadian.
