up2here 41 Report post Posted May 22, 2008 Whenever I hear of concusions I think of Adam Deadmarsh. He was an awesome player 3 years ago, and now nothing. You don't even hear his name anymore. I hope Franzen's case is nothing serious. Really has me worried. Deadmarsh had to retire, you dont often hear about retired players. If Franzen has to retire you may see a grown man cry. KronwallCRUNCH 5 Report post Posted May 22, 2008 Crosby plays the first round with a broken foot and Franzen might miss the Stanley Cup Finals with.....headaches-that-have-gone-away? Thats right, the FINALS, with the condition of previously having headaches. Wow, I finally agree with everyone who says we are soft. This is pathetic, we are soft. Maybe someone should ask Drake what the finals mean to him and learn a lesson. Has it ever occured to you that they may be hiding another injury? Of course not. toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted May 22, 2008 As an outsider...I have a Franzen question.... He only had 38 points in the regular season....why the sudden superstar output? Thats quite a jump...just curious.... Could be John Druce syndrome. Could be that he simply came into his own, or Could be that he is just on a major hot streak. He did finish the regular season with 15 goals and 20 pts in the final 16 games.
KronwallCRUNCH 5 Report post Posted May 22, 2008 As an outsider...I have a Franzen question.... He only had 38 points in the regular season....why the sudden superstar output? Thats quite a jump...just curious.... Franzen really didn't start playing like a power forward until the end of this season. I actually went on a road-trip to Buffalo to see the Wings play there, and that's where it began. My friend and I looked at eachother VERY confused after seeing him play. Before his streak began, he played a very soft, Dats/Z wanna-be type game. As soon as he figured out how to use his body to be effective, he caught fire. dicksmack 33 Report post Posted May 22, 2008 Franzen was clutch in OT to eliminate the Flames in last year's playoffs as well...
HkyTwn 5 Report post Posted May 22, 2008 Hold on. The players have no control over it. If the doctor's don't clear them, they can't play. Simple as that. They have reason to be cautious. Our Doctors are also the reason our players are hardly ever injured for very long. Exactly what I was thinking.
RockyMountainWingGal 108 Report post Posted May 22, 2008 Whenever I hear of concusions I think of Adam Deadmarsh. He was an awesome player 3 years ago, and now nothing. You don't even hear his name anymore. I hope Franzen's case is nothing serious. Really has me worried. Adam Deadmarsh crashed head first into the boards hard - I remember it well. He never recovered from that injury, but as far as I know he did not have concussion problems before the accident (ironically I think he was playing against his former team the Avs). Franzen as far as I know didn't sustain any one injury to the head. Correct me if I'm wrong but other than all out tough playoff hockey I don't recall any hits to the head, etc. Therefore I think his situation is much more positive than Deadmarsh's was. On another note, for people who question his motivation, the guy will without a doubt do anything he can to get into the Stanley Cup Finals games. Migrain headaches aren't exactly the same as foot or ankle injuries that can be played through - they can affect your vision, thinking etc. Anyhow, I am confident he will be back soon - please come back Mule!!! redwingfan19 293 Report post Posted May 22, 2008 (edited) I just wathced a 1 on 1 with Mike Babcock on the TSN website and from what he was saying it seems they are just waiting for the doctors to give him clearance. second video down right hand side if you haven't seen it yet 1 -on-1 with Mike Babcock Edited May 22, 2008 by redwingfan19

Putting my psych knowledge to work, he's not embellishing. In the vast majority of cases, the eyes tend to drift up when a person is fabricating or embellishing a story, but Babcock's are steady. I'd say Franzen's good to go, just needs cleared.
10 Minute Misconduct 104 Report post Posted May 22, 2008 (edited) Thats weird Babcock makes it sound like he's just being held back by doctors and then you see this: Red Wings general manager Ken Holland said forward Johan Franzen is doubtful for Game 1 Saturday, saying he is not even close to practicing. He has missed the past five games with concussion-like symptoms but is no longer experiencing headaches. "I've been told he's getting better," Holland said. "He's day-to-day. I expect to see him (today). How far away he is, I don't know." http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/20...yes_on_red.html It's like a circus. Dabura 12,232 Report post Posted May 22, 2008 (edited) Did Holland really say hes doubtful for Game 1? Well, even if he did -- grain of salt. I wouldn't be surprised if Mule's "doubtful" right up until the last minute (i.e., whenever the lineup needs to be submitted). You know, just to throw the Pens for a loop. EDIT: Oh. That's what I've been thinking today, they're confident he's going to be good to go, and are playing this be vague with the media game to keep the Pens on their toes.
