HockeytownRN 0 Report post Posted May 23, 2008 There was just a story about this in my local newspaper. The octopi sold a Superior Fish in Royal Oak (Main and 11 mile) go for 3.95 a pound, and can be from 1 to 10 pounds. If you tell them you are using it to throw at the Wings game, they will boil it for you and supply you with gloves. They also give out "Proper Octoquette" which says that boiling the octopus for one-half hour removes any natural moisture or slime, and will not leave any residue that may inhibit the game once thrown on the ice. The only time to hurl the octupus is after the completion of the Star Spangled Banner, throwing away from players, officials, and personnel. They said that Red Wing officials were at the store recently to film a demonstration to put on their web site, showing how boiling the octopus gets rid of slime. A little Octopus trivia for you. Namingway 146 Report post Posted May 23, 2008 I'll get everyone using the proper term eventually. Might take a while, but doggonnit... There are three forms of the plural of octopus; namely, octopuses, octopi, and octopodes. Currently, octopuses is the most common form in the UK as well as the US; octopodes is rare, and octopi is often objected to.
