I demand Datsyuk to immediatly replace the current mayor of Detroit.

You have to understand, although Pasha is smart enough to do the job, and do it well, he's also smart enough to know he doesn't want the job.

I wonder if he improves his English more, if he'll be in the running for the captaincy when Lids retires? I see it being between Hank and Pav, if Pav can learn to speak more fluently. He sure LOOKS like he's blooming into a great leader. I don't know about behind the scenes but the guy brings his A game every single night and is an inspiration to this team.

Good Choices, but you forgot Cherry's worst nightmare. A euro who does it all.

Instead of comparisons or nick names, Dats should have only 1 title, and its one I have been lobbying for for awhile now:

Best Player in the National Hockey League.

I know its a hard thing to say 1 guy is better than the other guy when you get to the top 5 or even 8 forwards in the game.

But list any forward in the top 8 against Datsyuk. Now compare everything about those players from on ice vision, TOI situations, point production, defensive ability, intangibles, etc....

IMO, Datsyuk is the complete package. The only way he'd be any better is if he were 6-3, 220 and had a bit of Brendan Shanahan's Irish in him.

PS: Has anybody else noticed how many times Datsyuk has just beaten a Pens player to a loose puck and simply showed us all the textbook definition of how to get body position, be hard on your stick and come away with the puck? I can't count how many times he's done this little, albeit big thing of getting to a 50/50 puck and simply using muscle and body position to win that battle. He's a sick, sick hockey player.

That's the first thing I noticed about him back in 2001. Here's this little rookie that would go into the corners, and even though the other guy might have 50 pounds on him, Pavel was the one who always seemed to come away with the puck.

I remember the days before the Datsyukian deke, this was the thing we were talking about, the fact that he seemed to always come out of the corners with the puck!

my skills will improve someday. but IMO Pavel is

"CAPTAIN HOCKEY" He does it all

Not that anybody here probably needs reminding but the fact that he's tied for 3rd in scoring at 19 points and pretty much doing it so quietly you wouldn't even notice. I suppose he's too busy leading trying to lead the team in takeaways and hits to bother with trying to put up the most pionts. :)

I sold my Datsyuk game used stick last year on ebay. I want it back now more than ever.

In the immortal words of Ren, "YOU EEEEDIOT!!!"

There was a play the other night that caught my eye and is just typical of Pasha. Four guys are mucking in the corner for the puck. Pasha comes skating up and just looks at what is going on, kinda like a vulture stalking his prey. Then he goes right in among the four of them, steals the puck and passes it out to a waiting teammate. That is something that doesn't show on the stat sheet at the end of the night, but it's typical of what he does every night. I honestly believe that when it comes down to voting for the Smythe, you absolutely have to consider all the things that he does that doesn't show up on the stats, and he just wins it hands down.
